Dogs are cute, so people feel more sympathetic towards them.
    The pleasure's all mine.

Well that's because the largest part of the user base are frustrated males that have women troubles and resort to foolish things online.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

this seems way off the mark to me, got any proof?

also, even supposing this is true, that doesn't mean the internet was "born on the premise" of this, as miggs put it

I think the main thing the article focused on, though, was the cruelty thing. While slaughtering cows and such is a messy process, no rancher is going to purposefully injure his livestock. That's how he'll make money. Only way he'll make money is with large, fit cattle.

uh I don't think it's that hard to deduce that most of the people online are male :fear:

A few years ago I would have gone as far to say most are teenage males, but times change, older lonely guys are finding their way onto the internet as well.

i can grant you male, maybe. teenage? not really. frustrated? not really. methinks you're confusing the population of subspace with the internet at large

hell, i can't think of a single acquaintance of mine that doesn't use the internet. i live on the eastern seaboard, so my experience might not be fully indicative, but the point stands.

If this had been asked a few years ago, yes I definately would have said that the population consists of male teenagers, and not just this shitty game. In my opinion, AOL (as sad as it is) and high-speed internet becoming more affordable are what helped the internet become available to a wider audience, which is why these days it would be wrong to say that the e-population is full of nerdy kids.

Do you remember the internet before AIM? Remember how much there was to do? Not a whole lot, I think I made pokemon websites and played Warcraft. My point is that internet business were flourishing yet, messaging programs weren't as popular, there weren't things like myspace or facebook, so the appeal of the internet wasn't that huge- hence my male teenager assumption.

The internet these days has a larger audience yes, but how many use it for more than checking their e-mail/myspace account or buying things online? I think Rich was leaning more towards the internet community, which by and large is made up of forums like these- and as you can see, not many girls regularly visit them. If you need examples of frustration look at Ratty or Glacier- there might be less/more frustrated teenagers these days (I don't know, haven't bothered to check), but there are still a good number out there that make me tend to agree more with Richard.

                        • Remember before AIM? Those are what I would refer to as the good old days, especially by your description, what's wrong with warcraft? I used to have a shitload of sierra 3 and whatever fraction floppies and a box that ran dos was a great thing. Yeah the internet at large and shallow has the perpulation about it these days, which is unfortunate and hence where added frustration will be had. But besides woman hate it is more a matter of moving away from all things dealing with sex in a game about shooting shit, and its message boards. What other than sex do you ever need or want to know what someone's gender is? You take the time out enough to know that they like to be called she, fuck why care call them he, maybe they will leave sooner because I'm not seeing any sort of winning coming from our recent additions and I still do contest those additions the internet has gotten over time who are similar to them.
Sexually frustrated kids make the problem worse, and you can't say that there isn't a good number of them here, probably more in the game itself. Man and I still cannot believe you don't think the internet is THE home to missergonny in the new age, why do you think it is always called the INTERNET.

A response I can totally concur with...its the suffering moreso than anything thats appauling. And I would say what turns people off of the whole topic of eating dog is that fact that it has been a companion to mankind for thousands of years dating back to the hunter gatherers. Would you eat your neighbor? A1 anyone?
