"Another time I had forgotten I had an exam in a class that I pretty much didn't go to and completely forgot about it. When I asked the professor if she would give me a makeup she told me only if I had an extreme emergency of some kind and proceeded to lecture me about me being irresponsible. So I told her my mother had just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. When I came to her office to take the makeup she started crying and told me she had gone through the same thing three months earlier, and her mother had recently passed away from the disease. She hugged me and everything and told me how sorry she was for giving me a hard time and that I was "a good kid and didn't deserve to have to suffer through this".
I took the makeup exam and knew I was going to get a low B or a C. When I handed her my scantron she asked me what the doctors said about my mother, I told her it didn't look good and looked down at the ground, and that my family was just taking it one day at a time. She started bawling and glanced at my paper, glanced at the answer key, gave me a 95/100 and another hug."
Too good to not share.
