Crackdown got no content whatsoever. Throwing cars and roundhouse kicking civillians gets boring after 2 minutes. The main character that you're playing doesn't ever talk -> which means that he's just a boring 3D character with no personality.Originally posted by H I M View PostI'm not American and I've heard of every movie and show they listed.
Anyway, looks awesome.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Ratty, besides being a short game what's wrong with Crackdown?
And jumping around gets old fast. Collecting the orbs to improve your skills so you can jump even HIGHER! Now thats super cool! And the weapons are so horrible that most of the time a Chuck Norris kick is much better than shooting the bastard.
While the GTA series got a storyline and lots of funny characters with different personalities. And fun missions.

With the previous GTA games I was able to say where they got their juice, for example Vice City -> Scarface. Now I have no clue, it should be something well known and not just something only the American people know. :turned:

I thought of Leon the Professional a bit, too. Then I thought about the Showtime show Sleeper Cell. Like he used to be part of a terrorist cell in his home country and has come to America to get away from that all.

I was hoping that you could create your own character. Depending on what nationality you use, the storyline is affected. I have huge expectations. I'm talkin every door to be walked through, customizable safe houses, personalized graffiti, 4-player co-op, downloadable missions and cars, the whole deal. I want them to go all out. :P

GTA IV will be the game that actually makes me buy the next gen platform. I just wish I knew which platform will be better for that game, though---the Ps3 or the 360.
The graphics look amazing, and I can't wait to see how the new engine performs. Supposedly it's the Rage engine, which is what Rockstar used for their addictive Table Tennis game that Dameon liked. I was really disappointed with the rendering for San Andreas, and how when you were flying the Harrier jet you'd suddenly ram an invisible tree that wasn't on the screen until after you exploded. Hopefully, the new generation of processors will be able to easily handle the load.
As far as the storyline goes...badass Russian comes to US? Yea, that's got some awesome potential. I've really been impressed with how much improved the storylines and character development have evolved since GTA:III. Even Vice City Stories was more well written than San Andreas, and compared to most games, GTA:SA was above the bar.
But with all GTA games, Rockstar always injects pop culture references into the storyline. Like...GTA:III had a major Sopranos influence. GTA:Vice City had a major Scarface/Miami Vice influence. San Andreas had a major Colors/NWA/Death Row Records/LA Riots influence. I just wonder if Rockstar will include elements of 9/11 into this game, or what movies or TV shows they're going to draw from. I will shit my pants if this Russian character ends up being a Keyser Soze style guy, or maybe an influence from the HBO series, The Wire. That show had a Greek/Eastern Euro crew that ran some major underground crime. Either of those two influences will just be fucking awesome.
What do you guys think will influence GTA:IV? I am having a hard time recalling any super popular movies/TV shows where a possible Russian/Eastern Euro mobster played the main character or had a big influence to the storyline, besides The Wire or The Usual Suspects.Last edited by Subjugation; 04-07-2007, 05:42 AM.

Crackdown is a good start in the right direction, but it needs more meat on it's meager bones.
