Can you say purgery to 99% of the Bush Administration. Ignoring Supoenas, The ruin of another country by invasion under false pretenses and the deaths of 100,000 plus civilians? Basically it was a Republican Congress using their political capital to impeach a President that virtually the entire country loved. Clinton's highest approval ratings were in the midst of the Lewinsky Scandal. Yes I do understand it was an attempt by the republicans to defame Bill Clinton. Personally, I do not see anything inherently wrong with that: if they want to, and have legal justifications to do so, they are allowed to go with it. I just don't get how any judge - who is supposed to be impartial and neutral in the matter - to even consider having a trial about something that is perfectly legal. What justification is being used to make it legal to have a trial about an act which may be immoral, but is far from illegal?

The problem essentially isn't what he lied about, it's just the fact that he lied under oath. I agree that impeaching someone for a blowjob is a pretty stupid idea, but the fact is that if the President lied under oath, when the President's job is to protect the Constitution and uphold the laws, there's a problem.

Absolutely, I agree that lying under oath is a big deal. But what I'm getting at, to put it in TV Show terms (The Practice), why did the following not occur?:
Prosecutor: 'President Clinton, did you or did you not have sexual intercourse with Monica Lewinski'
Defense: 'OBJECTION. The question is irrelevant.'
Judge: 'Sustained'
