She wanted to break up because she missed you.
She moved. At first, it was new and interesting and everything she ever thought it would be. She felt like the long distance thing really was going to work out. She felt great.
Days turned into weeks. She began to feel increasingly lonely. A guy she recently met but never intended to let intrude on her relationship was able to meet that need, so she let him.
Before she knew it, she was in a struggle between you (the guy she left at home) and the guy she has been leaning on as a crutch because of what she calls your absence in her life. Her attachment to him has made him look a lot more attractive; you, just a good guy. You can't meet her needs like he can, not anymore.
But how does she communicate this to you and make you believe she didn't plan it and never wanted it? She had no shot. Luckily, your letter bailed her out. You set her free.
Ok so maybe that's not what happened, but it was how I imagined it! Anyway, the key to a healthy relationship.... I'll stop right here and say there isn't one. A lot of factors come into play. Communication is a big one. Physical contact is just as important. Long distance relationships hardly ever work unless both of you are extremely dedicated. It's very easy even for married couples to not feel as intimate after an extended absence from each other. Couple that with the fact that there's not as much of a moral or legal commitment in a dating relationship, and you can see why so many long distance relationships turn out the way they do.
Distance creates needs and allows you to get away with a lot more than you otherwise could have gotten away with. It allows people to create behavioral patterns for themselves that lead them away from those they are separated from, and they never would have had a reason to if not for that distance.
Do whatever you think you'll enjoy doing with your time. A lot of people are giving you suggestions (and I guess I am too) that line up with what they enjoy. Try to remember what you enjoy that isn't attached to the girl you just lost, and do that in your free time. For me, it would be hanging out with the guys, playing XBOX, eating a Firehouse sub, and drinking Guinness.-Dave

As I am orientating for studying a semester in America and thus talking to people who have actually done that. They all tell me the same thing: America has a far more schoolish approach in university, more tests and in general the courses are way easier than over here, unless you are actually on the 500 level. Now I don't know in how far the Canadian and American undergrad programs are alike in difficulty, but I must say I am not that impressed when you throw around numbers like 70%. No matter what school you go too.
Now I must say I have never really cared about grades, just passing the subject, I find it far more important how good I actually am at my Job later on than graduating with a 9 average. And I believe that as long as I am good at what I do, Ill will get there eventually, no matter what school I went too or if I graduated as an honour student or not.Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

I had top grades in all of my school, and this is after me dropping out and coming back.
1. you are in the gifted range of intelligence
2. you studied your butt off
3. your highschool was one of the easy ones

Originally posted by Cops View Post3) A master's in business is really good to have, once you have your masters you can teach in your respected field and do many other things. Generally more money, it also shows that you care about your given field to increase your knowledge in that field. The way I look at it is the more time I spend in school the more money I'll be making, although I will be working at either CBC or City TV next year.
Let's take a simple annuity example: Eric decides to get his MBA after getting an undergrad degree. Cost of the MBA is $60,000 and let's say it only takes him 1 year of study to get it. The job he could have worked at instead of getting an MBA would have paid him $35,000 after tax for that one year. Let's also asusme the MBA would result in a 15% pay increase or roughly $5,000 after tax (don't believe studies that say MBA's provide 50-100% salary increases). Finally, let's use a very low rate of return of 3%. Long story short, it takes Eric 29 years to realize a benefit from the MBA.
Yes that example was full of holes, but from what's I've seen in my industry they aren't far off.
Originally posted by Cops View PostI'm not saying Ward's a complete idiot, but socially he's inept. Maybe he does hold a 70 in Schleps school of business but getting mediocre grades in an undergrad program is nothing to boast about. I'm not trying to boast about my accomplishments but I'm just pointing out that doing well in high school and getting into this school that seems full of arrogant assholes isn't that hard. Plus once your in you can squeak by and get a degree, now getting into their MBA program probably cuts off half the kids that go there.
a) The level of difficulty isn't a huge step from 4th year courses (this is very true for MBA's, in fact 3 of my 4th year business courses were cross listed in the MBA program).
b) It is not in the university's benefit to flunk MBA students when they are paying you tonnes of money and their future success in their respective industries will have a huge impact on the university's ability to attract more grad applicants.

Now that post was the biggest waste of time since I discovered Texas Hold EM on my BlackBerry

I wouldn't know about the difference in difficulty between North American and European schools. I do know that most of the students in my program who were not from Canada did not graduate, but I've also heard that schools in Europe are generally more difficult. I'm sure it depends on what school you use as an example. I do know that there is a massive difference in the level of difficulty between programs and between the same program at different schools in Canada. A 3 year bachelors degree is pathetically easy to obtain compared with a 4 year honours bachelor degree becuase honours students (honour just means its a 4 year degree) take harder versions of each course and have to maintain a higher average. A 70% average doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment, but for some programs/schools it can be. In my program (I hate having to use my program as an example all the time but it's what I know) we started with close to 400 students in first year and with 70% being the required average, we had around 60 for graduation. Of those 60, I believe 12 graduated with distinction which required an average over 80%. So roughly 12 out of 400 students were able to maintain an 80% average over 4 years....

Oh and as for your other post, $60,000 would be the price for some Canadian MBA's. In America the cost can be over $200,000 at some schools.
