Religion: Preaches decent enough values (kindness to all, charity, etc) but the problems start when people start taking the story literally, ie believing that there is a Holy Place where it was all supposed to happen and going to war for possession of it, believing that an afterlife exists and you will go to hell if you don't do x, y and z each day, etc. The book's shit anyway.

To the idiot staff who moved this thread: you are such a ignorant dumb f*ck. The idea "there is little correlation between being faithful and being stupid. However, being excessively religious is usually a reflection of being weak." was not my original idea. It was well researched by psychologists.

But I guess you are too stupid and don't read much.

I hate retards, why the evolution did not eliminate them?

God created them, evolution did not got rid of them. I guess there is little hope for humanity!

I don't think religious people are are inherently stupid.

I do think religious people who try to force their views on others are, though.

Besides, do faith really fit better in your life than maths or science, or does it just make you feel more comfortable?
Well first of all, I must apologize for assuming wrongly about your intentions. However, faith to me is not about being comfortable. On the contrary, my faith makes me more uncomfortable at times than anything else possibly could. It's a lot easier to go with the main-stream (that's what makes it the main stream). My faith doesn't keep my life from being meaningless, but instead keeps me from pursuing what I see as the wrong purpose in my life.

Really?! Wow! I wasn't aware of this study, I don't suppose you have a few references? Preferably to a journal and not ihatereligion.com

I don't even need to read this thread to know it will turn into MHz blowing his mouth off about how religious people are foolish and I know Heavensent will quote the bible like some sort of twisted scholar finding gaps and holes to tie his theories together.

Stop wasting my fucking time, and get the fuck off this forum.

Whose fault? You chose to read this thread and post a reply on it?

In case I'm wrong: If one believes out of fear, can we really call that faith? As soon as something comes along to challenge that kind of faith, one would be free from believing in it. In the position I stand in, faith in action takes the form of love following the example set by the One I believe in. It's impossible for me to love in the midst of fear. If I believed simply out of fear my faith would collapse from within. I don't see myself as unintelligent. I can grasp all of the concepts presented by those who argue against my faith. When it comes down to it, my faith makes more sense in my life than anything else. I can see pieces that fit together in my life that are much stronger arguments for my faith than any scientist or mathematician could present.

    K i'm done.
When was the last time you feel good about yourself apart from the time you thought 'you were with God'? I really want to know, because I could not see how a common person like yourself bother to live without deceiving yourself into believing God meant you to do bigger things.

If you are an atheist you just proved yourself wrong there.

Cops must have had divine knowledge about this thread. I BELIEVE
