You have just stumbled upon the place to post all your views on the war

Taking trusty advice from Jason (not always a good idea) I have decided to merge all the war posts on this forum into one post, so a) This isnt turned into the war board and b) All the posts are in one place so you dont have to keep switching threads which isn't cool if your on a 56k like me. So far I have merged the following threads:
    • How many lies did Bush tell everyone? - Epinephrine
    • It's the Official "Talk About the War" Thread!!! - Jason
    • What I agree with - Golden--Knight
    • Kaboom - Shear
    • Bush's lame reason - t0k3up

If I merge any more I'll add them to the list.

PS. Rich, please stop posting the .6MB pictures that take 3-4 mins to load and in the end its a crude picture of shite?

How many lies did Bush just tell everyone?

Anyone see the speech? Holy shit what lies. I guess it's finally happening... the day all of us knew was going to happen cause we all knew Bush was never serious about diplomacy.

There's a difference between politics and being sly and blatently lying. He was blatently lying. It was sort of funny to see.

"Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups

Easy to make judgements based on the information you receive through the television.

Our soldiers have been thrown into this war....any American who continues to protest this war after our men and women are overseas fighting is a non-human, in my opinion.

And you can suggest a better source of information?

Didn't see the program, but heard most of Bush's BS. Personally, I think if we do take military action, the "war" will be over in a few weeks, since half of the Iraqi army is ready to surrender right now. Something within his own government will get rid of Saddam, not an American bullet in his head.

Yeah, I mean, basically, I sit here and try to impress my liberal views upon people, war is bad, etc, etc, but it doesn't work because NOBODY HAS ANY REAL INFORMATION. I think that the war is going to increase terrorist attacks on the United States. My Republican friends don't. There's really no way to know, and it sucks. Bush knows, but he's doing a shitty job of talking to the people. What I do know, though, is that the media doesn't normally tell us stuff like this:
                  http://www.observer.co.uk/iraq/story...905936,00.html

But PJ, I don't get how me protesting the war makes me a non-human just because there are people dying for a cause that I don't think is right. Just because they are dying doesn't mean that I have to think that they should.

Agreed. I don't believe that Saddam Hussein would ever disarm, but Bush is really pushing it.

I liked the part where he said that Americans are "peaceful people", yet are starting a pre-emptive war. The worst part is, of course, that other nations will start their own wars and use this pre-emptive excuse as their justification. "Well if the USA did it, why can't we?!"

I think Bush is sincerely trying to protect the American people... but its truly funny to watch him try and justify the invasion of Iraq without presenting any evidence. He could be right, of course, but he won't reveal his sources, which means that none of us believe him

                      quit your damn whining

I know that most of you are probably teens, and think you're all high and mighty...I know I am, I'm a teen as well. We know everything right?

I bet you didn't know that it's natural for younger people to question the government's intentions, no matter which policy it adopts.

And you know what I garauntee that you don't know? You don't know all of the facts that Bush has coming to his desk everyday concerning Iraq. All you know is that people are going to get killed, and you are afraid of that because you got hooked onto some hippy music.

I believe this war will be a success, simply because we're superior to the Iraqi army, but what I fear is that you people will not see the success, the only way you will ever support a war is if something tragic happens, do you suggest we wait for Saddam to funnel all of his weapons to terrorist ogranizations, wait for an explosion on the Eastern Seaboard before we go in wholeheartedly into a war. What would that cost us? Waiting for them to strike first (which is inevitable given there is evidence of plans for other terrorist attacks) would cost much more than getting it over with now.

Besides, this war is out of the people's hands, Bush knows the facts, he knows much more than any of us do, and he'll be able to make better decisions than us, remember that.

And if he is wrong, and Saddam will retaliate with "weapons of mass destruction," well, the world's gotta end somehow.
                      Ну вот...

Look, the point is, I think Bush is a fucking idiot, and it has nothing to do with my music tastes. Funny, though, that you think Linkin Park, the most generic, terrible band on earth, is a good band, and also believe all the stuff you posted. You enjoy the processed, worthless music MTV feeds you and the process worthless bullshit that CNN feeds you. I know Bush knows more information than I do, but I still think he's a lunatic and an idiot. If it's because I'm a "teen" and that when I get older and "wiser", I'll understand that following rules and not questioning things is the way to go, well, then I hope I stay a teen forever. I'd rather not be a sheep. Bleh. Linkin Park.

What I stated was a fact: It IS easy to make judgements based on what you see on television, no matter what it is. It's all based on your initial impression.

Here's the thing - the vast majority of Germany and Japan's population didn't protest their wars. Right now, it's the opposite situation here in America. Comparing the two is somewhat ludicrous.

In addition, it is one thing to disagree with me. It's another thing to challenge my statements with open-ended questions that don't actually target what I'm saying. The emoticons rolling their eyes don't necessarily scream "class" either.

I actually regret discussing this topic at all on this forum due to the fact that any international debate posted here goes abso-fucking-lutely nowhere, but I'll respond to this because it's Blast.

I'm not saying that you have to think they should have to die. However, protesting a war that has already been set into motion and is about to take place/will be taking place accomplishes nothing. The time to debate the war is long past. Whether we agree with it or not, a military conflict is most likely going to take place. Protesting won't change that.

I am in no way saying I whole-heartedly agree with the actions the American government has taken, but events have already been set in motion. Our fellow countrymen and women are going to be in battle - protesting the conflict they are involved in, in my opinion, only shows indirect contempt for their lives. It's like saying "Sure, thousands have died over there, but that's because the war is all bullshit politics." Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Regardless, my thoughts and support go out to all the American soldiers. I think war is really fucking stupid in any case, but the soldiers from all over the world currently in Iraq have my respect and support.
