I have a 99 s80, 2.4 with 170k km. The dealer I got this car from is a dealer we have been getting our second hand Volvo's from for like 18 years, and not once have we had a serious problem with one of our cars. Right now I can still get like 5k for it. Considering a 2.4 Volvo engine can easily go up to 300k.
Obviously I didn't know Toyota doesn't sell the Avensis in the US. And Disp, I dont really care about how exciting a car is. I care about how comfortable it is, how it feels when driving it, how it looks, and how luxurious the interior is (doesn't mean, more is better). The Avensis is incredibly comfortable and drives incredibly well. It has fantastic acceleration too.
Its all fun and games having some tricked out Golf with racing seats or whatever, but when you have to drive that car for hours and hours its gonna break you up. I have now driven a Lotus Elise three times for my job, and though its a fun car to drive, sitting in that thing for 2.5 hours when its hot outside, no pleasure cruise!

That's 105,000 miles, which isn't too terrible for a 99.Pandagirl!

It was in production 1997-2000 so not really that much older than your S80...
To emaho: it is dark blue with black leather interior and chrome wheels and has that wing thing on the trunk. Arent I ridin in style! Although the black leather interior really sucks now that a policeman made me get my front passenger windows untinted :/
I got it after my brother totaled my first car.

I didn't mean old as in coming from 1980 or whatever.. old model.
And 170 000 km on a car that can easily live to see 300 000 is not that much.
Old:
New:
Newest:

Avensis, comfortable, hmmm, i think it wallows a bit too much and rolls around corners, it is quite good on the motorways though.
As for driving pleaser, (feel) the steering doesnt give you any feedback, and to me is too light.
The interior isnt up to the Ford Mondeo, so its nothing special on the inside either.
As for acceleration, it is SLOOOOOOOOOOW, 0-100 on the most powerful version is still 8.6s, the most powerful petrol version takes over 9 seconds.
Its a decent car for what it is, but it is just so incredibly boring to drive.
As for the golf with racing seats "issue", i swapped my Golf for a Subaru Impreza WRX STi (which is just a little bit more hardcore than a golf )
I drive about 2500-3000km a month in it, and im still not bored with it, or going to the chiropractor.
The elise is a great little car, if i had endless reserves of cash id buy an Exige S as my summer car, i absolutely love the way Lotus' drive, and its quite comfortable every day. (Apples and Oranges though)
If i were to buy a "motorway cruiser" I would get something that can do the cruising and be comfortable, but still be good for a spirited drive when needed, something a little bit more compromized than a Scooby, maybe a A6 with the 4.2l V8, New M5 (if money wasnt an issue ), maybe a LS460, hell id absolutely love a Maser Granturismo.
Id never buy a "peoples car", like the Avensis, id drive it for a week, then sell it and get a proper car.Displaced> I get pussy every day
Displaced> I'm rich
Displaced> I drive a ferrari lol
Displaced> ur a faggot with no money

elise comfortable for every day? I don't know what elise you drive, but that one I was in wasn't even comfortable for the drive I had. Getting in is annoying, if there is 2 people in the car you are constantly bumping in the one next to you if you wanna shift gears. Its fun to drive, it drives well. But comfortable.. not really.
And I already know I differ from you car wise I just like the peoples car more, as you call them. Though there are enough cars I would prefer over a Toyota Avensis, it is still not bad.
Out of the cars I have driven I would see the jaguar was the best. Mercedes is fun to drive every now and then, but I just don't like them a lot (I drove a brand new one last December, but the novelty wears off fast). I like Lexus too.Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

Because you know exactly how old I am. I'm probably older than 95% of the population here, as sad as that is.
Back to topic, I'm having buyers remorse already, I recently found a Mazda RX8 for a really decent price. Such a pretty car, but in the end, its still a Mazda. I don't know.
