There are a lot of things that the liberal media has kept from us and refused to report on this election, and I believe (again, my own personal opinion) that a lot of people had the wool pulled over their eyes under the premise of hope and change. I dont blame these people, because they perceive the Bush era to be the most horrible presidency known to man. A lot of the votes that changed this were from my generation, who really dont truly understand what the Clinton administration did. What they do understand, is that the rest of the world hates Bush and that the media has portrayed Bush to be an idiot, even though its highly doubtful that an idiot would get voted into the presidency twice. I also believe that Bush was perceived to be an airhead because he was not a good public speaker, something that Obama is undeniably very proficient at. That being said, I do not believe the presidency will be "that bad" because either of the 2 candidates has done soemthing right to get to the point they are at, and they both inevitably want to help America. I simply believe that he got elected for all the wrong reasons (race, not affiliated with Bush). After these 4 or 8 years when people truly understand what has happened and when his lack of experience manifests itself, particularly in foreign affairs, you'll see a huge swing the other way. Taxes are certainly going to increase in the near future with so much in new spending, and we as a nation are going to be challenged from outside forces to test Obama. I hope he is prepared, and I hope the country is prepared for this, because things are certainly about to change...

What I find incredulous though, I heard that a bunch of people at the republican headquarters said stuff like we are going to be like Russia now (communism and stuff) and ow crap here comes all the socialism and shit.

But if you were put Obama with his views and stuff in the Netherlands for instance, he would be right wing and not left wing. So although Obama might be a left winger in your American politics he is very mild on a grander scale and you wont even ever reach the kind of socialist country the Netherlands for example is (well maybe if you could keep these kind of presidents up for years and years and slowly take steps towards real socialism). So really, what is everyone crying about?

I'm still soaking it in. It's like I knew this day was going to come but in the back of my mind I always sort of believed that at the last moment something was going to shatter middle class people's views of Obama. My hippy school is going to be crazy today.

I can't wait to show up. All my professors are going to have a giant boner too because the youth actually voted this time around.

Last night I could hear people screaming and honking horns a block away in downtown until 4 in the morning. It was incredible to hear so many people be so excited about politics. First time in my life (except maybe 9/11 but for diff reasons) that this many people are tuned in to the future of the nation.
