Just in case it should be of interest to anyone, I recently performed the final assembly, test firing, and then first run of ammo through my own Romanian AK-47.

I stripped off the finish on the rear stock, and will be sanding it smooth, and then using Tung Oil on it to refinish it. Then I'll do the front handguard set. Also I changed out the handgrip to a polish handgrip because they aren't as narrow and feel more comfortable in the hand.
Also in that second picture is an AK Bayonet, 2 30rd magazines and 1 10rd.
All in all it was pretty damned fun, and was amazing when I did that first test fire, and it fired a round for the first time since who knows when. I have pictures somewhere of bending the receiver, and welding the rails, as well as starting a protective metal finish on the receiver.
