Actually Iranians living overseas can vote via absentee ballots, much like in other countries. These absentee ballot voters overwhelming voted for Moussavi.

Should any outside country step in? (Odd how that mentality probably only comes from Americans)
I say no. Especially now that their Supreme Leader just backed up the elections last week.
If there's going to be a regime change, the Iranians should handle it themselves or ask for help first from any neighbors.Ну вот...

damn gran you're iranian? me toooooo
BTW, since this is well publicized now in CNN, people will have realized by now that if USA tries to help Iran, the Ayatollah will just use it as an excuse to kill people, saying they were working for their enemies and whatnot. I say just let the revolution take place if it's going to happen. Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

look, i know you don't understand - but the government knows what it is doing, that is why it is called government. those protestors are not politicians - they don't know what's going on. they are ignorant radicals, and they haven't even finished school. who are you gonna trust? a politician, or a schoolboy?
it is in the best interest of the people that the regime remain. what do i mean by "best interest of the people"? well, i'm not going to grant you an answer. because i don't have to.

Under Ceausescu’s rule the people of Romania had experienced severe food rationing, power cuts and fuel shortages, the abolishment of contraception and abortion, state controlled censorship of the media, visitors and travel restricted, and the 'systematisation' of half of Romania’s villages which involved the elimination of a village and the repositioning of their residents into 'Agrarian-industria’ centres. Totally manipulated and controlled, the Romanian people suffered oppression for 21 years, disciplined and monitored by the 'Securitate'. Ceausescu’s secret police.
The week long revolution was one of Europe’s most bloody and hostile revolutions since World War II. Any acts of aggression or placation by the Government only seemed to fuel and anger the Romanian people, led by Revolutionary leader, Ion Iliescu. On 21 December, Ceausescu made a televised speech to reason with crowds in Bucharest, but it only served to incense the crowd which became violent and riots continued throughout the day between the army and police. The following day, the army joined the demonstrators and by the Christmas Eve, Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife had fled Romania, only to be caught and executed by firing squad on Christmas Day.The people of Iran, as once was said of Iraq, are educated and perhaps they want more freedoms and less restrictions from a government run by a religious council? Iranians do not need or want us to teach them about liberty and representative government. It is we who need to be taught. Iran Had a Democracy Before We Took It Away with appointing the Shah of which was a puppet dictator to the West that put most of the peoples in Iran into a level of poverty. Ever wonder why the Islamic Revolution happened in the 1st place?
We are the biggest problem in the Middle East. We have through our cruelty and violence created and legitimized the Mahmoud Ahmadinejads and the Osama bin Ladens.
To sit back and not protest against crimes against your own country and its people by your own government is a crime in itself. One does not need a college degree to undertsand that.May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.
