Out of curiosity, is it normal to take a class where the professor talks for three hours about things unrelated to the assignments? It's my only class where I have a 10% percent assignment due each week, and I found that the assigned readings which helped you complete the assignments had nothing to do with the lectures.

There's no final exam just an essay worth 20%. The assignments alone counted for 60% of my mark. The other 20% are broken up into two tutorials, one online. The other is a writing workshop that is god awful and involves students sitting there with a clicker and answering questions with their electronic device. The writing workshop doesn't involve any writing or critiquing, it's 500 students sitting there clicking so they can get their 1% for showing up.

It does seem strange, but it all depends on the set up of the class as well. For instance, during the week I have one lecture and one seminar for each class, the seminars are where the assignments are discussed (though for a lot of classes, the assignments are something you have to do but don't influence your grade). Al though the lectures usually somewhat address what is talked about on the assignments it is often also about more and a lot of the questions are things you have to answer with the use of the literature. However, there is no final exam, so unless all the lectures are about the essay that you have to write, it seems very out of place.

Well I came into college as a sophomore, and after this quarter I'll have senior standing. I still wanted to take 4 years, so I just keep adding majors/minors to fill up the time. The best part is that I never even have to take more than 15 credit hours a quarter - except for this quarter, where I have 17, and I kind of want to kill myself.

I was thinking about minoring in German, but I'm afraid that I've forgotten too much to pick up at the 300 level.

As an advisor at my university, double majoring while simultaneously double minoring is a viable option for anyone who knows what they want to do from day 1 and doesn't want a BS. It requires no wasted classes and overloading to 20 credits 3 times. Mind you, that is not how I suggest going about your collegiate career, but some students enjoy only experiencing a narrow window of what a university has to offer. However, they do get lotsa pieces of paper at the end, which can get jobz and mad skrila dawg.

Paradise reminds me of this chick I know who has nothing to talk about except her being a history major in University, it's fucking aggravating. I ran into her over the weekend and thought to myself "wow, this is what he must be like in real life minus the tits".

In all fairness, I'm new to the University scene and wanted to know if I could expect three more years or useless shit, or if my experience was somehow different from the norm. Seemed like a great time to ask, since they were all beating off to their education.
