Once, when I worked in produce at a grocery store, we were bored and decided to cut up some habanero peppers and put it in some salsa, then put the salsa out for samples. We made it pretty hot, but not oh-my-God-I'm-going-to-die hot... just hot enough that standing behind the door watching people eat it would cause some entertaining reactions.
Needless to say, I learned that habanero juice has the ability to pass through rubbers gloves. Or the fumes do. Or something. Because I went on break and touched my face and hoooooly shit.

If you want to get the heat off your tongue, have syrup (aunt jemima or whatever...even Molasses) take a swig and spit it out. The syrup attracts the oils from the pepper out of your mouth and it's gone in a flash.
