    sooo Kevin Costner created a machine that can literally separate the water from the oil and spit the water back out , 24 million of his own money invested, BP is picking up a bunch of the machines and they are leasing these machines out to states that cannot afford them provided that they pay them back for the investment from the oil thats sucked up

    the machine sucks up the water and oil, separates them and then puts the water back again

    yah for kevin costner lol

      It completely baffles me as to how people remain confident in their government when you look at the past 10 yrs alone.
      • Government failed at helping people during Katrina;
      • Government failed at protecting people from predatory lending which led to toxic assets and foreclosures;
      • Government failed at preventing schemes like in the Bernie Madoff case;
      • Government lied to enter into a war that has killed thousands;

      AND...
      • Government is failing RIGHT NOW to stop the biggest environmental disaster we have faced to date.

      (And, the reason I'm calling it the biggest is because of the time it has taken to destroy the ocean in compaison to other events such as over fishing.)

      Your loyalty to the environment, the people who live on these lands, and the other species that inhabit this world should far out weigh your loyalty to abstract concepts like country, government, state etc.

      This government continues to lie to you and swindle you, and due to some misplaced loyalty, people continue to go along with it as if it's an effective system.

      This system is broken; corrupt; corroded to its very core.

      Comments like, "Oh, we've faced adversity before, so we'll get out of this," do nothing but minimize the troubles we face.

      Great optimism though. However, history shows a very contrary belief, a very different trend. Empires fall all the time. And, a really big sign is when the powers that be plunder the wealth of the working people -- which is exactly what you see going on today when you consider the imposed national debt.

      One doesn't reach higher moral ground by standing on the shoulders of others.

      (sorry to derail the topic, but that had to be said.)

          he spent $24 million creating a centrifuge, an existing device that is already used for this sort of thing?

              I can agree with you Tigron on so many levels, this doesn't just happen with America but Canada as well...

              But the systems already in place, we always blame the government for anything and everything but we are the ones who elected them in the first place... you can guarantee your stance on that matter is backed by a lot of people but at the end of the day its still there...

              the only way for change is so that the people unite and protest, but protesting as you can see doesn't get you very far...

              I'm all for over throwing the current form of government but realistically the next batch of people will face the same crooked corporations that perpetuate the same crooked behaviors and would have to be done so by force....

              Yes those disasters could have been acted on quicker and by choosing not to do so caused a lot of mistrust

              Maybe one day someone young from our generation will try to run, make some real change and ignore the rules... but that would need for all young people to go out and vote... which most young people fail to do because they share your opinion and feel that by not voting they're taking a stand

              back to the oil stuff

              Kevin Costner was quoted as saying at a press conference " I hope when I die they put on my tombstone, " and he made movies as well "

                I bet he got the idea when he did Waterworld.

                -------------------------------

                Sixtoo, one cannot fight the system. One can only out grow it.
                • Voting doesn't work because that's participation.
                • Protesting doesn't work for similar reasons, but it's also like a slave begging his master for privileges.
                • Waiting for the savior candidate is still an act of dependency -- Obama is a prime example for this superstition.

                Holding onto such a paradigm does not lead to sovereigntly; it, instead, keeps one in the system.

                However...

                You have things like the Free State Project in New Hampshire. You have people keeping their kids out of public schools. You have parents practicing non-hierarchical parenting. These small acts of voluntarism are like the first signs of life sprouting in a burnt forest.

                  Yes he spent 24 million dollars of his own money to help other people, the environment, and the entire world's oceans. He didn't wait for Obama or BP, he didn't go to forums and complain from his chair at home, I'm having a hard time finding out why this guy is worth your ridicule, but I have a feeling that that is what our generation is best at, sitting on their fukin ass and laughing at the people who go into real life and do things.

                  Distort go fuck yourself.

                    ok without any sarcasm this time:

                    he spent $24 million developing a device that already exists

                    While it's certainly his prerogative to waste millions of dollars that could have been spent on something actually productive, don't applaud him for it. What would have been better was if he had spent that money to buy a bunch for the government instead of trying to sell his.

                        I just read an article about a contractor working for BP was fired after 12 hours of submitting a photograph to them showing them that they are using planes to drop payloads of dispersing chemicals in the water! ohh for shame

                        and then theres this news reel talking about how its associated with the four horsemen of apocalypse lol
