Well Nominations close today at 4pm CST. Currently there are 5 (including myself) in the running.

Newspaper called me today asking my views on such and age.

-South downtown needs to be looked at due to the city purchases of land and timeframe.
            -Recycling programs
-Current city programs including gargage pickup and snow removal.

Only 28, but I think i bring a new view to the council considering everyone is over 50 and has money. How can they understand the shiftworking people of this city which are well in the majority of voters.

Considering most western countries, Canada included, are sitting on the brink of outright fascism- anybody willing to enter public office must hold a seriously compromised morality.
That's it isnt it HMS? You just dont care. You want the power, control and honorary title with little or no comprehension of your moral responsibilities.
              Fucking spineless parasite.

Actually, I am quite upset by the the fact the council is very right wing considering it is supposed to be bi-partisan. Anyone who knows me, understands I do not agree to any partyline politics at the civic level. And actually I do understand the moral responsibilities of a leader.

Ex: A new recycling centre could be created in my potential riding, it would solve the recycling issues for the city, create jobs and profit the city several million over my term. However, the planned project would create an eyesore for the neighbourhood and lower the property value. I would have to make the decision based on whats best for the city vs the unpopular opinion of my consituents.

This is what a leader does.

As it stands there are now 8 candidates for this position. Nominations are closed and the next 4 weeks of campaigning begins!

What if your city's waste management is controlled by some shady crime organisation? Maybe they dont want some faggot meddling in their industry?
Maybe your fellow council members are collecting kickbacks in return for rejecting recycling plans?
Maybe there is a large local developer that has other plans for the site and is willing to use their political clout to destroy their opposition?

This is the reality of politics.
It is a business for the wretched and broken, and has no place for someone of moral integrity.

Hopefully none of your constituents read that, they'd probably take it the wrong way. You should fight for them no matter what -- especially if its something that will most likely happen regardless of their opinion. Force the recycling plant to build a park or something that will improve upon the downgrade in appearance/property values. The city can even give the company a bonus for doing that in taxes so both sides could be happy (although I don't know how any of that works in Canada, I could be talking out my ass here because it's unfeasible).

At the very least you can put up the front that you care about their opinion so they vote for you and would continue to vote for you in the future. Yes it sounds underhanded, but shit man that's being a politician; finding a way to make everyone "happy" and furthering your political career at the same time.

And fascism isn't a "right wing" or a "left wing" thing ... it's elitists of both wings jockeying for control over all of us. They use fascism to make socialism seem preferable.

8 candidates ... sounds like a heated race, good luck again, hope you win
                              Fuck it.

In a city of 250,000 people I doubt the 'crime lords' are big

Most of the 'gang' related violence is drug deals gone wrong. Most of it are the 'Indian Posse'.

We have about 10 murders a year. Usually because of a break and enter gone wrong or Domestic abuse.

We are considered 'the boonies' of Canadian society. We are very much a commodity based province, which is why the recession really didn't effect us, so we came out ahead.
