So what we step in and force McDonald's or Wal-Mart to pay employees 20 dollars an hour? They instantly fire a majority of them and replace them with ordering computers or self checkout lanes. I'm sure no fucking job better than a job from those mean corporate jerks right?

woah slow down there buddy automation isn't coming anytime soon, these jobs are fine. also if the only thing preventing these jobs from being wiped out by machines now is that it's cheaper to employ humans than it is to install these cashier bots... are you familiar with how the price of technology works? like how things tend to get cheaper and better all the time? so at some point even if we freeze wages where they are right now and never raise them again, sorry but at some point it will in fact be cheaper to just replace a majority of cashiers (as well as specialized fields - for instance, alot of paralegal jobs)

so i dunno dude, you seemed to be convinced some big disruption with automation wasnt even possible yet here you are basically admitting there's one right around the corner, but the only thing stopping it is that it isn't cheap enough yet.
