    • poor magi..this one's for u, then. see if u can get it:

My first is in come, but not in go.
My second is in deep, but not in low.
My third is in fire, but not in flame.
My fourth is in love, but not in game.
My fifth is in meat, but not in stew.
My sixth is in one, but not in two.
My seventh is in try, but not in fail.
My eighth is in head, but not in tail.
My last is in snow, but not in rain.
My whole is a famous author of Spain.
      What am I?

Not really. Firstly, there's the clue about being near the earth. Secondly, there is a logic to what letters can or cannot be combined. There is no combination that would allow the fifth letter to be an W, for example, even though it is in waist but not girth. The choices for the letters above and below it eliminate it as an option.

Syzygy's last one isn't so good though, because a couple of the pairings don't share any letters at all, so that makes it a bit trickier.

              • 1/3 = .333~

                2/3 = .666~

                3/3 = .999~

                But: 3/3 = 1

                why doesn't .999~ = 1?

                    3/3 != .999~, I don't know what school you went to.

                              The same reason

                              Limit (1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 + 1/32 + 1/64 + 1/128 + 1/256 + 1/512 + 1/1024 + 1/2048 + ... ) = 1

Go and look up limit theory.
