  • Lets Be Obvious...

In all the action series cartoons (Including Anime) they tend to make characters state the obvious. A Villian could be twirling a baton over his head and chanting a satanic ritual, and you would recognize it right off, but the hero would say "Oh no, he is now twilring some unkown object over his head and using some ritualistic chant" ad teh girl would state "OH no, be careful". Why od they do this? are there people out there stupid enough not to know what the hell is going on the whole damn time? I was watching Inuyasha last night and each character repeated eachothers name after that person made a statement to them.
"The Miasma is getting thicker" -Miroku(Once again obvious)
"Oh no be careful Inuyasha!" -Shippou
    "Inuyasha" -Kagome

I think Inuyasha was created for a younger audience, like many other action anime's.. All characters arent supposed to be smart and mysterious either..

Inuyasha is fun just like the other one where the boy turns into a girl when he gets wet or something. at least it is fun in the beginning. but somehow animes start sucking after the first few episodes anyway.

Don't forget that anime's usually aren't originally written in English. Due to translation, some details of speech don't come across sounding natural. In other cultures, people may say each others' names more often in regular conversation.

Another aspect to consider is that a lot of them originate as comic books or manga where the images are still and thus require more verbal cues to describe what's happening. When turning these comics into cartoons they usually stick close to the original phrasings.

Things like saying "oh no, be careful" however aren't exactly obvious. That phrase doesn't just mean that the situation is dangerous, it also indicates concern from one character to another. Those two characters you mentioned have a relationship where they often argue with each other. A comment like that shows that there is some concern and that their relationship is more than they let on.

LOL this reminds me of YuGiOh. Like they would always say shit that just happened. THe whole 30 minutes seemed like obvious repetetive conversation to extend 2 minutes of actual material.

                              Amen.

I used to be into anime like Gundam and YuYu Hakusho (mind you, this was like a year or two ago ). I thought that it was the coolest shit ever, but just thinking back on it, there was some pretty dumb stuff in those shows. I realized that, like Torn said, it was the same stuff over and over again, with glitzy action thrown on top.

I will give some credit to stuff like Cowboy Bebop or Blue Gender, but I personally can't stand anime at all anymore.
