Yeah mattey is a beast in elim because of his aggressive rushing, and the fact that there are no teams. He has the perfect style and skill to own elim. But its a different story in twdd/ld. Not to critique mattey or anything but sometimes I see him rush into a crowd of about 4 people, he'll usually get a kill because he is good but then he usually dies right after. Of course his rushing style would work well against crappy squads, but if hes up against a very good squad that knows how to team, that rush of his is pretty useless .

And to blood: yeah, im not sure how good raspi is for dueling 1v1, but i'd assume he was pretty good because of his good aim. But his style works well in an environment like elim or twd.

i think metalkid is the perfect example of a runner.

I would have to agree with you on that one...people joke around all the time like 'Yo MK, is your backwards key broken yet?' and stuff like that, but yeah he could definately run well.

Yes, Mattey is quite good, and he isn't all rush. I specced Mattey in twdd and he is quite clever.

But you don't give yourself enough credit Tys, you are quite a beasty too.

Off the top of my head here is a list of what I consider elite warbird duelers:

Jack, Ruby, Ripper, Vihta, Death Row, Deez Nuts, Destroy, Lofty, Foreign, Blood, Burnt, Epinephrine, demonfaze, fireballz, fieryfire, sika, Da1andonly, Cumulonimbus, Mr. 420, Randedl, King Babba, Tys, Mattey, Mythrandir, killermech, demonic, sol ^, ardour, anzu, physt, tntkilla, anduril, g2 kick u, duclover, ....and many others, have to think deeper, sorry if I missed afew.

Its quite sad, there is some duelers out there that aren't recognized at all, yet they are quite good too. I think TWEL and ELIM sort of shows off the ones who try or who are active.

Yeah, I only know warbird stuff; the jav world is that another world yet explored - no idea.

my style is a new one: i call it "the best style ever woot"
its where i twirl around in circles with my eyes closed and fire randomly. gets em every time guaranted. and if you do bad, howd you know? youve got your eyes closed.

I think everybody has their own technique...do what comes natural and everything will flow. If you try using other people's techniques and it doesnt flow, your only hurting yourself. As a tip: I suggest trying all styles and forms of the warbird, whichever works best, stick with it, practice, and get compfortable using it in all situations. And remember...all good things take time

if you limit yourself to one type of style, you are opening yourself up for both predictability and a specific counter attack.

each "style" listed above is, in my opinion, vulnerable to another style. the best way to avoid anything like this happening is to react to how your opponent is playing, and try to control them to a point of predictability.

how you do that is up to you and everybody else.

Hey slightly.
Good post there. I get what you mean by most of the things you've described. Although i do think i've seen many people using that rock bounce technique you've described, especially in dd's. I've used it lots. Although I dont think it something you'd always want to consider. I forget who, but you need to watch out WHO your trying to fool. I think i tried to pull it off on someone in elim whose played for a while, and he didnt buy that rock bounce. He stopped chasing and shot as soon as a hit the rock. I should have did it better i guess. I've also been trying to play elim and baseelim more than pub now a days. i've noticed that for some reason, you can go into elim, and play alright, but then go into pub and some new guy can just waltz up to you and kill you. For me anyway hehe. I think its because they shoot as soon as they have energy and dont really try to dodge as much as suicide kill you.

I think my strategy is a mix of all you've described. I stay away for the most part, and when the person thinks i'm going to sit around and radar shoot, I rush in and try to kill him. It's effective to change the way your playing quickly so your opponent doesn't know what your doing. I can't prove this, but sometimes it works.

And yea what's with raspi's steriod bullets?! :P
I try to thrust some before i shoot to make the shot go a little faster, but I'm not sure if that does anything.


Oh yea one more thing. That aiming thing, where you just sit and radar or try to shoot them from the edge of their screen - Unless you have some bad lag or you do some bounce shots or shots appear in front of them, most people would just dodge forever. Out of the 2 people fighting, they need to take risks to kill, or nothing will happen. Thats when you need to move closer, rush, etc. Rushing isnt bad at all like some people think. (I used to think it was lame) But it actually isnt because you need to get close to people who dodge really good. Unless they duel forever and one falls asleep at the keyboard :P

My 2 cents... There are a million different styles, but they all fall between two extremes, rushing and running. Rock bouncing isnt a style, its a technique. Radaring or "aim" relies on keeping a significant distance from the opponent and in order to maintain that distance, you usually have to run a little bit.

Anyway, its pretty easy to write a book about this stuff, but I wont go that far.
