Just curious...I was feeling nostalgic and started looking through old squads' player histories and didn't realize how literal squads of people quit this game in waves. I stopped playing about 4-5 years ago because I only had a small laptop, but recently started up again and forgot how fun it can be, especially the community. I've noticed some other older players randomly popping in and starting to play again, too (I'm not really that old of a player compared to others, but 2003 is old at this point lol). So, why did you stop playing and would you ever play again? It would be cool to play with and against a bunch of vets again, even if it's not too often, or just a season.

Good question. Honestly, the only way that I would ever quit is if the game itself dies at this point. I've went through a ton of highs and lows within the game and yet nothing has pushed me far enough to seriously quit the game and never log in.
The biggest reason for this would probably be how the community is. It is a very competitive environment, especially nowadays with guys like Ogron calling everybody zero title newbies. You WANT to beat those guys. For many newer players, or even older foes, that reason alone, to be the best, is what I think drives people to play. The ones who have quit, have more than likely achieved everything they have wanted, and saw no more competition.
I suggest we should send an email to old aliases, to sign up for a league. Or watch a finals game one sunday. These emails might have a low click-rate, but some clicks, if any definitely help with zone numbers.
And personally, I believe that if this game dies. There will quickly be one to replace it. Continuum will never die. It has outlived the test of time. There will always be a Continuum.4:cripple> everyone DOWNLOAD my cheat engine it removes .5 sec off ur respawn and adds a 3rd into regen energy link is here: www.pornhub.com/man.kills.fly.during.anal.html

The TWTD just gone got me back into it, I got the e-mail through advertising it otherwise I still wouldn't be back.
Each time I generally stop playing it's because I get frustrated at my lack of ability in this zone, I was OK in DSB and I just can't seem to adapt lol. I've also noticed since coming back again this year that there's an awful lot less 'casual' squads so there is a massive step from say Paladen to any other squad, meaning it's hard to find easier games for less-abled players like myself.
Also there isn't much of an EU presence anymore either, it's hard to get anything going (even pub) before 8-9pm UK time.
So general declining pop leading to a lack of an active EU player-base that could support DDs or BDs etc. would be why I'd stop again.

I worked it out at one point and it was "for each UK primetime hour I spend sitting around trying to get a basing game, there's a 3% chance of there being a basing game."
So I don't bother logging on trying to find a game anymore.
The longer this goes on I just get out of practice so when I do play it's pretty demoralising.

I quit playing for 7'ish years. I was tired of waiting around for hours to find a TWD match. The borrow system was not around back then, it has saved TWD but we now we suffer from a lack of players. There are still days during the week where we wait forever for matches, the zone needs to keep big events (ie DT/TWL) going so players have a reason to login. We also need to be nicer to newer players, the few we do get are met with a rather hostile community.Siaxis> yo it was way harder to kill Rage then beam in that dtd
rylo> 1.5 mil for whoever kills renzi
(10 seconds later)
rEnZi is out. 17 kills 10 deaths. 2 players remain.
P TW-Pub> rylo sent you $1,500,000, you now have $4,047,199.
If you're going to do a thing you should to it to the best of your ability or don't do it at all.

I reinstalled the game a month or so ago and was seeking to reconnect with a couple of friends. While waiting for them to log in, I made an alias and thought I would support Pub a bit. Having played this zone since 1998 but being AFK for the last few years the following is my observation of how the zone has changed. My opinion below is limited to the way the zone was when I left 2 years ago, not trying to compare how it was back in 2000s.
Most of the time when logging in Pub population is low, typically with less than 5-6 players active in Pub. Of course during a handful of peak hours the activity is better but without seeing any metrics, I would guess that the population has continued to decline over the last 2 years. Occasionally and mostly only during peak hours, decent games in Pub still intermittently occur. In years past one decent Pub game would often result in a series of good games but for whatever reason(s) this no longer seems to be the case. So I would say that Pub sessions with strings of decent games appears to be much less common than 2 years ago.
Of course this zone has always had its share of assholes who primarily sought to fuck with other people. Frankly I did not think it could have gotten worse then it was 2 years ago but I think it has. It would not a stretch to say that new players get verbally assaulted. While playing under a new alias I was shocked at just how many times I had people PMing me, flaming me, attacking me. I was not being an asshole to anyone and in fact I did not ever say anything to anyone in any chat. This was just shit storms that come out of nowhere and are being directed to what people thought was a new player. And of course putting people on ?ignore has been just as ineffective as it was last time I played.
Having play the zone for as long as I have, I certainly did not expect it to be a friendly place. But I am surprised at just how much it has deteriorated in terms of the number of assholes. I am not talking about the random political or other bullshit being said in Pub chat, I am talking about what a new player experiences when just trying to play. The zone was never about sitting around the campfire and singing kumbaya, but this new level of hostile assholes serves only to run everyone off. In retrospect, the zone should have had been run using ‘whitelists’ instead of the ‘blacklist’ approach. In other words, everyone is ?ignored by default until a player adds them to their ‘whitelist’. This approach, paired with the ability to silence Pub chat, would have made the zone playable and stopped morons from evading the ?ignore. (And on the upside, you would not have Rab’s ?ignore thread!)

This is a dead game anyway the people who run this zone have tunnel vision every update is minor and doesnt make it any more exciting. Ignore and pub policing is a goddamn joke we still have tower and his alt army spamming chat like a schizo on a subway train.
When you don’t address the very real issues affecting this zone then derailing pub games only becomes more fun because how the fuck else do we get entertained
