When I did play I left pub immediately after getting lamed by some noob Levi that wanted to play the game on easy mode
let the noobs cry
they’ve had years to become decent at some other ship at this point and actually contribute to building a flag game
definitely was always lame playing someone that needed their entire screen or the entire base to be damaged to get any kills
I’m sure I can speak for the core that doesn’t enjoy that shit and just leaves quietly to other sub arenas.
the only time Levi is fun is when you’re doing the laming.Last edited by ag$; 12-13-2024, 05:29 PM.

I dont see many levs nowadays. It's mostly just single weasels laming. If the arena was 8 v 8 you may have a point. most of the time its 3 v 4 if you're lucky! There can be no coordinating ships and teams without people there first. We have the cart waay ahead of the horse.

Jav doesn't even come with x radar now. Sometimes you spawn with it but even when you get lucky and have it, it uses a lot of energy to use it. Weasels can cloak and stealth infinitely though? Not fun when no one is there anymore. Chasing a ghost around the flag room is boring.

Weasels are certainly very effective against a slow ship with no xradar but this will not save the FR from being turned from a combat arena into a danger zone as long as dead levs are respawning in lower/upper base.
I have seen promising low pop flagging battles killed off by too many levs recently.
I have killed levs in the lower base bits linking with mid and had them spawn above me (presumably with full energy) before I had recharged. That is a few seconds away from being able to fire at the FR.
In a 4 vs 4 battle no one can be spared to hunt levs all the time anyway. A typical pub team of 4 might be: 1 AFK, 1 messing around doing their own thing, 1 flagging some of the time and 1 trying hard(ish).
Settings need tweaking!

I agree with you viruk, and would just add that people laming on priv freq regardless of ship is killing flag games. If its 6 v 6 or more than a few laming on priv is warranted, but we are lucky to get a decent 4 v 4 nowadays and with 2 or 3 priv freq lamers, it makes it impossible to flag. Thats like 90% of pub nowadays. Funny how spooked changed the settings yet is RARELY even playing in pub.

From my experience, to kill a weasel, you either:
1. Keep shipchanging in lanc until you get x-radar (annoying) and even then the x-radar energy drain is massive so you can hardly see them still
2. Find a terr and attach to hunt the weasel, well this takes serendipity to find one who has the ability and motivation
Both cases, you end up with 1 or 2 ships just not basing at all, which kills basing. Basing happens to be what the game is about, which means you kill the game.
I'm just venting and not expecting any proper change, as I said before: "The mere fact that the current settings exist means whoever is in charge doesn't know/care about balance"
Just to spell it out:
Doesn't know about balance: Things will stay the same since they thing everything is great
Doesn't care about balance: Things will stay the same since they don't care
Both cases: Things will stay the same.
Oh well. RIP pub.
