Hey guys. Was this current pub setting meant to be a short term for fun setting or is this supposed to be the new permanent setting? Both Levi and Weasel in my opinion are way too overpowered. Was this done to try and emulate the legacy settings of old and if so, they are both done incorrectly. I'm just confused why this has happened. It's basically become a Lev and Weasel war now. The levs should NOT spawn in base and the recharge rate is slightly too fast still. The weasel needs to LOSE energy when cloaked and stealthed at the same time AND its bullet speed should be set to almost ZERO forward momentum. Also, if full cloak is in order for weasels they need to be set to regular size ships again. It is not making for a good pub experience right now .

we asked to revert to previous settings, and that is not quite what we got. we got much, much older settings... here is the difference:
CURRENT LEV:
- spawn in and out of base
- 4 reps, 1 port
- stealth
PREVIOUS LEV:
- always spawns out of base
- 2 reps, 1 port, 1 rocket
- stealth
- optional XRADAR
CURRENT WEASEL
- 1 rep, 1 rocket
- stealth, slows down energy regen
- cloak, massively slows down energy regen
- stealth + cloak = energy INCREASES
PREVIOUS WEASEL:
- 1 rep, 1 rocket
- stealth, slows down energy regen
- cloak, massively slows down energy regen
- stealth + cloak = energy DECREASES
currently levis seem overly powerful because they spawn in mid base regularly, have tons of reps, and can port out when being hunted. with previous settings, they'd spawn far from base and as a result were more likely to take the long way out to reach roof/side tubes to avoid getting killed. I understand the whole "pair with a terr if you want to counter weasels!" and while I agree, have you seen the population of pub this last year? theres barely 10 people playing, pairing with a terr is nice, but theres almost never anyone terring.
levs also had a chance to spawn with xradar, or purchase it, to counter weasels. right now, it is impossible to counter weasels as a Warbird, Spider, Leviathan, Weasel, or Lancaster because
1) you don't get xradar
2) weasels can simply be full-time cloaked AND their energy will still regenerate.
Weasels can simply be invisible 100% of the time and you can't do anything but switch ships, or be killed every 30 seconds.
Balancing suggestions:
- Levis spawn out of base only, except maybe in very low pop (<10 people)
- Levis lose 2 reps (2 instead of 4)
- Levis get a rocket
- Weasels lose energy when stealth + cloak, so they have to act fast if they want enough energy to shoot. they can't just be cloaked 24/7 anymore

It's pretty funny that levs want unchecked power and they want the only ship that can truly counter them to be nerfed.

what do you mean unchecked power. my recommendations had two nerfs, making levis lose half their reps AND spawn so far away from base that getting there will be hard.
weasels clearly is not the only ship that can counter a levi, that says more about how u are bad in other ships than anything.

I think the new weasel boosted activity and was fun to play. Though I thought it was a temporary event. I think I prefer it over the old weasel, the main issue will be that the map was designed for the old weasel to traverse tubes and small openings which was an integral part of it's game-play that will probably be missed by those who played the old weasel.
I also agree with other people here that when it had L3 bombs it was way too powerful. Right now it feels like a Jav (bombs), Lanc (amount of bullets) and Weasel (Stealth) and even Shark (repels) combined.
I also agree that the cloaking should probably cost something. As fun as it is to cloak unhindered.

i dont think staff is interested in fixing anything & they are only pretending to listen. these new weekend events have been such a flop with the smallest pops ive seen in the last 5 yrs, with broken ship settings and maps, truly creative ways to make the game unplayable.
now with the old ass xmas map from like 2005, we have the least playable pub maybe ever:
- ship stats dont reset on new flag games
- disabled warp to flag room on new flag games
- there is no goal (ball unscorable)
i am fully confident staff is incapable of fixing anything. i uninstalled the game earlier today, didnt have fun playing anymore. will check back in some months maybe

- The heart of TW pub is the flagging game.
- No flagging means fewer laming opportunities which means fewer lamers will play too.
- If the server goes laggy every time you get a 10 v 10 flagging game then many flaggers won't stay and play regardless of settings. Is this still an issue?
- If ship settings encourage lameness and flaggers die a lot to something like a near-perma-cloak-stealthed wzl or a levi with a bomb radius that covers huge chunks of the FR then many flaggers won't bother playing.
- We don't have the players to both flag and lamer-patrol effectively as we used to. Settings that worked then might not now.
- Weekends are often the busiest and best times to find a flag game so turning them into special events is a bad idea long term. Have a 'Timewarp Tuesday' where the settings revert to something old and silly if the bots can handle it.

I believe a lot of pubbers have honestly grown too accustomed to vulching/laming rather than basing or working together with team. The changes are intentionally supposed to make that style of play harder. For solo players, warbirds should still be strongest in the asteroids, javs in the base. Midbase spawns and attachmode will likely be adjusted to ensure these stay true and that every playmode is viable to some degree.Last edited by SpookedOne; 12-12-2024, 12:35 PM.

weasel and lev dont cancel each other out at all. Weasel is OP as long as it has infinite cloak/stealth. None of the other ships have "free" x radar. It's unbalanced and annoying to have priv freq weasels running rampant. This is increasing the laming, not reducing it, and the number of players has dropped significantly. I think the test failed.
