-X stealing flags seems to be fixed (theres about a 3 second window that you have to hold it for to successfully steal flag, interesting to see what happens when theres only 2 seconds left to go and flag stolen)

Sheesh, limit those fucking javs. It's nice to terr with 14 newbie javs who are bombing enemies when one is next to you. Or they are just trying new shots that never work out and, surprisingly, tk whole fucking freq.

Solution: keep near flag. Most people are anyway, unless they're dead. The only good flag stealer is a shark with 3 reps: can hold them off for the three second. Its not a matter of changing the settings to fit with the playstyle, gotta change your playstyle to fit with the settings. We can't have everything handed to us on a silver platter.

I've already made a couple of possible solutions in this thread. If you don't want to go searching for them, here they are with a couple more:

1/ Decrease the arena population caps. With fewer people in an arena problems such as uneven teams creating unbalanced basing are severely lessened. Also, if you reduce the number of people in all arenas by 5 then on average you will actually lower the number of levis per arena by one. That's just from spreading them out more. Add to that other factors like how having fewer targets means it will take take a little longer to green.

2/ Create a new map that places more emphasis on the base. Right now the base represents less than a quarter of the entire pub map. Why not make the base bigger? Imagine a set of walls extending from the base down through the middle of the map. That would in essence turn the middle of the map into a large (and when I say large, I mean as big as or bigger than what the current base is) room inside the base. This room would be to the current base what the mid-base room is to the flag room. Think of the flag room as a throne room, the mid base as a giant hallway. This larger room would be like a castle courtyard. Now here's the kicker: people can spawn in this large room. You're already inside the base when you enter the zone. I'm not saying they will necessarily move upwards, but that's already a subtle change that will affect how people think of the base. Another benefit: the safe zones will be outside beyond these new outer walls. If levis want a safe place to green, they'll have to move farther to get there. Another benefit: these walls will also have levi and sniper friendly openings. Levis like shooting through holes, but right now, all of those holes are facing the areas where people want to base. These new levi spots can help encourage levis to fire into the courtyard instead of into the base. Levis get their kicks but the base doesn't have to receive the brunt of it.

3/ Eliminate private freqs. Private frequencies tend to hurt basing more than encourage it. Sure you and your buddies might get to base as a private team and have a good time of it, but that comes at the expense of the other two teams. The only people getting the benefits are those on the private freq. When they eventually leave, it creates a vaccuum where even fewer people than before, from either pub freq, will base. The actual net change is negative.

4/ Increase the size of the flag room. People like flag room battles? Give them more space to accommodate more people in there. With the added room you'd also stand a better chance of surviving a levi blast from outside. Imagine how big an improvement that alone would be.

5/ Encourage basing as a general concept. Advertise it. Have arena messages periodically challenge people to try for the flag. Have an automated message bragging how long one team has held onto the flag. Add tiny subtle hints like walls shaped like arrows pointing towards the base. Increase the flag bonus.

6/ Start a grass roots movement by established veteran players to pub more. This one can be done by ordinary players and not staff. All it takes to make a pub arena better is just two or three experienced people to get in there and give it a push.

These are all small, simple changes with broad positive results. All pubs will benefit, not just one or two that will be filled with mostly veterans. The ones featuring major map changes may receive resistance from staff, but it wouldn't be as drastic a change as making yet another ship setting adjustment. These ideas aren't new either. I've been proposing this stuff for several years now, and instead all we keep seeing are band-aid solutions that have little reach and lack any continuity that shows a constant and consistent drive to make things better.

Are you kidding me? This from a guy who claims he has a finger on the pulse of pub's perception of the weasel settings? People barely base anymore. Look at what everyone's been talking about in this thread. We all recognize it's a problem. Go to any pub and you'll find that a majority of them only have about handful of people in the base at a time, and usually only about 2 on one freq. And this is in a FULL arena. None of my suggestions take anything away from non basers either, so i don't see what your beef with that is either. These suggestions are more moderate and accommodating to non-basers than any other ideas being bandied about. If you don't want to base and plan to kill randomly in the spawn zone you still can here.

I agree with Tone, the map has withstood pretty much the test of time with all the map changes suggested. The anti-lev shot haters slipped a few ones in by some cloaker majick miracle, with the fast bombing blocks situated at each castle ventilation point. The nutrition of greens was reduced by weasel urine in the fields, thereby requiring the consumption of 20 greens instead of the original 15 in order to sustain attach power for leviterr bondings.
These continual changes suggested are nothing more than cloaker trickery, and only the weak-minded would succumb to such blatant blasphemy! Repent from your levi hatred, and be HEALED by the forgiving Levi Armada!!!

Again, those map changing ideas I proposed were a common ground to encourage basing yet allow levis to remain as they are. Would you really mind a new map that makes you have to find new shots to make if it means that you are still allowed to make them in a levi? If nothing less than the status quo will satisfy either you or Tone then it must mean that the both of you haven't realized that the status quo isn't working and hasn't been working for years.

Community competition to chaneg the current tileset in the timed pub wouldn't go a miss. Maybe hold it regularly for variation.

Troll King, sure, I'm agreeable to a map change that would allow new and advanced LT shots. The current bombardment resulted as a consequence of previous map changes, yet jsut as deadly. Not because of "splash" but really from placement. You can still remain in base and live from any of the current LT shots provided you have studied your terrain carefully and do not make futile, energy depleting shots for show like many terrs do.
Provide that future map changes allow both LT precision (and enjoyment thereof), and LT kill access (i.e., marksman warbird etc.. shots in the opposite direction without biased anti LT hate change such as all spawn shots), then I could speak for the Levi Armada as for the perfect cromulency of those proposed map changes.
In short, sure, as long as the LT can exist peacefully with the Cloaker Alliance, I'm sure the Armada can overcome any map change, short of no ventilation (then the inhabitants would die anyway!). The LT has always demonstrated strong survival skills. Its inherent DNA allows this!
The Levi Armada strongly encourages mutual acceptance of terrain mapping, to ensure both plentiful greens for the fruitful levis and the general populace's comfort in a hostile land. Again, the Levi Armada is here to protect those who submit to its rule. Failure to comply will result firstly in a purification by Blue Fire, and secondly in permanent exile to the Land of 1,000 Spawns.
We only wish to protect the Crystal of Levi Speed, deep in the Castle. Whatever you peasants wish to do on the remaining grounds is of no concern of ours.
