No one cares if anything is fair for weasels. Trench Wars public arenas are about basing, not about equal opportunity for invisible ships with no real purpose.

For the love of God, please make the following changes:

Reimpliment the Nightwasp as full time replacement for the Weasel.

I think if that was done, then it would be fine to keep X-Radar on the Lancaster instead of the Javelin. Otherwise, give it back to the Javelin.

Wow, I just realized that one change will make TW playable again. Way to go staff, you're just one ship change away from preventing a total failure of the zone.

Actually I wish people like would fuck off with the "everybody hates the weasel" stuff. The weasel can be used in basing and they are plenty weak enough nowadays that people shouldn't be complaining, IMHO. No I'm not going to explain the useful ways to use a weasel. Play it yourself and learn.

Though to be fair I liked the nightwasp experiment also. It might be too massive a change in gameplay to implement it in staff's opinion.

Where do we all stand on this? It seems to me most hate weasels then why not allow the lancaster to have x-radar. This way we will have specialized hunters searching for the little buggers. Don't get rid of weasels it's fun killing the little morons. For those who like weasels you'll have a challenge on your ass this will allow for you to actually develop some skills. If your on the line then good 4 u. Just thought I'd lay down the pro's and con's. Btw the higher staff hardly ever make a decision with the opinion of the public. I think thats why they made this forum, but hey they might change in the future. The only staff that ever respond are the non-arrogant mods and the ER's and ZH's.

Oh, and good luck hunting a weasel through those little holes it so likes to go thru. Lancaster was a good X killer, and could see it coming anyway (thru the holes in base) so it doesn't need Xradar to kill them.

I've been flying lanc for the past 4 years now under this current alias. So what if it has x-radar. I hardly ever use it. I'm usually too busy dodging or dishing out damage. The only time I have the chance of using it is if I'm doing my circular runs around the base or in the FR. Even then, I'm usually hounded.

Point is, it's no big deal. People got a bad attitude when the lanc's guns were changed, now they're whining about this change. And when some other ship is changed, they'll complain again. (heck, I still hear people complain about the changed size of the weasel)Here's an afterthought - You can't please everyone. Just take it, grow and learn from the experience.

now it's a REALLY good x killer. seems now that the only time x's are ever a problem for me or my freq is when about three show up and really focus on the fr. now usually, back before the changes started, I'd have to hop in a terrier and fight them off. then I could hop in a weasel to fight them off, and it was easier. and now I can hop in a lanc to take them out, and it's a piece of cake. fish in a barrel. used to be that against a lanc, the smart weasel could cloak and either run away or circle around for a good shot, and hope the lanc doesn't get lucky with his guestimated multifire. now, the weasel can.. explode. that's about it, really. whatever though, they've done everything short of removing the cloak entirely. you add drain, you give weasels xradar, you give lancs xradar.. it's all just beating around the bush. cloaking is a waste of time now.

I would say it gets me away from wbs, but no, they seem to have some knack with shooting me. I'd also say it gets me away from javs, but no, they just bomb wildly and the blast usually kills me.
I'd like to say it does save me from spiders, but no, spray fire can take me out 50% of the time. Maybe it helps me get away from levis, but wait! they can just bomb a rock if they know I'm around. Terriers? always have been wary of cloakers. Other cloakers? yeah, sure. Lancs? not with new Xradar. Sharks? they can see weasels coming but can't do anything about it, aside from a couple bombs and repping away from flag.
So, yeah, cloaking is a waste of time, unless you want to hide from speccers.
Oh wait, they have Xradar too.
Ok, so you can hide from Alt Tabbed people. Cool. there, cloaking still has a reason.

Now I'm very passionate on the subject of Xs. They get a lot of flack, but a good one has (or had) a good basing purpose. Before the changes, I held the flagroom from rushing terriers with warbirds before. The fact is that they're getting nerfed beyond usability.
They have a very low amount of energy, and can thus be killed by random non-aimed bombs, they can be killed with one hit from the sprayship lancasters, and two shots from a spider or terr will kill them. On top of that they are very slow and hard to manuever without using thrusters and depleting their precious energy. Then add in the fact that their bullets are slow moving and highly inertia based, and that they can no longer cloak, stealth, and maintain the ability to fire for more than a few seconds, nor do they start with rockets anymore, and you've got a very hard to use ship that gets no respect for being well used.
I believe it was decently well balanced before, with javs having x radar that drained and terrs always having x radar that didn't. I'm willing to give in that sharks should also always have x radar. Lancasters, however, do not deserve to have x radar... truthfully they end up killing weasels in open space with dumb luck at a missed shot at someone else more often than not. As a weasel, its a tough enough job to hunt down and kill any lancasters, as they're faster, and cannot be approached in an arc from the front without serious peril, not to mention that if one remains cloaked, they have but a few seconds to make their attack or retreat.
The weasel seems to be everyone's whipping boy... If it is on the same screen as a lev bomb hit, it usually dies. If its trying to move past teamates and an enemy javeling fires and misses both of them with a missile, it usually dies. If a teammate flies between it and a lancaster, it usually dies. Please give weasels their chance back by at least removing x radar from the lancasters again, and maybe giving it back to javelins. Thank you.

If the weasel could be used well as a close range cloaked fighter (easy enough: Remove thrust shots and multifire) without being annoying and disruptive for public basing then I wouldn't see a problem with it. Beyond those changes I don't see more being given to the ship. We could just replace it with the nightwasp and save all the trouble but change isn't hard, getting the Smods to do anything without fearing public disapproval is.

I don't see why people are so upset about this change...oh wait, actually I do. It's because they need easy ship settings to get their kills.

I see players like The Mushroom, PixelPaw, and Junin owning people all day in that ship, because they actually have skill.

Those people have been good at piloting the ship in all of its phases. Now anyone can do what was only seen out of them and a few other people.

Not like I give a shit anyway, the incompetence of staff when it comes to fixing this kind of shit is a big reason I stopped playing.
