Cable modem or DSL, which is better?

My lag was really strange. Whenever I played in pub it wouldnt be all that bad, a lag-miss every now and then, but most ppl died when hit. However, when I went to elim, my lag spiked through the roof. Same with Baseelim. sigh...

I am assuming that all arena's are on the same server, good chance that they are not given the same resources though. Or it could be that logging into different arena's resets you on a priority list somewhere. The best explanation though wouls have to be, "I don't really know!"

I am gettind dsl in a week from monday and getting rid of this cheap 56k. But I gotta go with dsl because here the only way you can use cable modem is if you have cable tv and I just got a deal that we pay for 30 bucks a month for one year then goes to 40 a month after 12 months. =/

west coast = laggy

east coast = all traffic from europe goes through here anyway, that's why we often lag less than euros (aside from finns)

Its not ping that kills me, it's the packetloss. Somewhere in my hop over to Finland, my connection takes me through IP addresses that begin "192..." which are private addresses instead of commercial ones. These in turn have less bandwidth capability and kill my packets. And I have NO CLUE how to stop it.

We recently got DSL, and I'm loving it . Real cheap (about $35/month Canadian) and no download limit. I've been downloading like 2-3gigs per night since I got it.

I usually have 120ping in TW, sometimes dipping down to 90ping or so. Seems like every other zone besides TW usually sits around ~90.
