The Weasel was changed because it was far too overpowered. We have brought it down to what it was several years ago, in an attempt to level it with other ships. This is still a test remember.
The size of the Weasel depends on a few factors. Two of which I can think of at the moment are that of a new base, and that of basing games in Publics.
This Weasel does provide tactical gameplay. I tried cloaking in Public 0, I could still get the flag, not with ease, but by rocketing in at the right time, using my repel either to deflect bullets away, or from enemy touching flag. I also got the Base Terrier a few times too. I also cleared the entrance to flagroom. If there was one ship defending one side of the line, I killed that guy too, giving my team a clear side to go into flagroom. What I am saying, while the Weasel has been toned down, it still has its uses.

Bah, why bother, the way you're handling this Mootland, you're basically just inviting people to shout at you until either you give up and change your mind in frustration, or the noise die down and you win. I don't want to do that to you man, so just forget I asked.
New map look's promising for the big weasel, we'll see how it plays out.

Sorry, but these are very weak arguments. No other ships can shoot through the holes either, going by your analogy ikpt. Sumspon, you're just glad to have another opportunity to jump on my ass, spouting garbage. I don't think I have ruined the Cloaker's uniqueness. It is still the only ship that can become invisible entirely. It doesn't have the ability to duel Warbirds, nor easily take down the ship it was supposed to be weak against. And the Javelin teamkilling is easily fixed. Simply introduce Leviathans back in.

The X was fine, it took a lot of skill with micromanaging to make it work. It was great at basing, dueling, and assassinating key ships. Making it big is ruining its uniqueness. It was already perfectly balanced(maybe not the thrust shot but everything else) and there is no reason to make it big and lame. Stop changing the ships its ruining the game. There are not going to be many new people coming to this game so changing settings will only make the core group leave and the game will die very very quickly. Pub is perfectly balanced without all these crappy changes so stop fucking it up and leave the settings the hell alone.
And anyone complaining about the small x being overpowered in a timed game should note that they would die MORE from jav tks than by an enemy X.

Staff seems very insecure about it's shipsettings.
Shame, effort would be much more in its place on different subjects.

Rose-tinted glasses tend to have that effect.
Also, if weasels should not be allowed to utilize the holes in flagroom, then wall them up so the javs can't utilize them either. After all, it's not fair that now Javs are the only ship that can utilize them, right PH? Maybe we should get rid of the Jav bomb-bounce

is exactly what I'm seeing in pub. Not "assassins", just lamers. An assassin targets someone based on strategy or tactical advantage. These guys are just sneaking up and laming slow ships (read: Lev), or spawning. No tactics, no strategy, no skill.
You're quite wrong. I've seen the opposite.

An army of cloakers

I have clearly stated what the Weasel is supposed to be. An Assassin. Whether it is spawning Leviathans or killing a Terrier in flagroom (which in the last few days has proven to have done both) then to me, the settings change has been clearly justified. No longer do we have an army of Cloakers destroying everything. This Weasel requires patience and some degree of tactical skill.

weasel's purpose?
I don't think the argument of what the weasel's purpose WAS holds any real weight. It's about what it should be. And about how the weasel balances out the game.
I think the small size gave it a niche and function that was unique. Now it's just a slower warbird that can cloak and regenerate at the same time. The balance is out of whack now and needs to be tweaked again. I honestly don't see how setting up the pubs to be spawnkillland is going to lure new players. As a newb, being spawned relentlessly is going to turn people away, even for a free game.
I also have a problem with the "pure pub" thing. Somehow the presence of a lev contaminates the purity???? Maybe to some of the old-timers, but not to me (two year anniversary coming up). Was the lev added last somehow and became the bastard child of TW?
The game is about balancing the various ships against each other and mastering the differences between them. The might of the lev as a LT is balanced by the requirement to reach 20. But being spawned 10-11 times in a row makes that requirement nearly impossible to reach.
If this current weasel continues, they'll need to at least give levs xradar, so we have SOME tiny chance of survival.

The weasel's purpose was never to be an undersized, overpowered nuisance. Sorry to burst your bubble.
"Make everything WB"? No, I fully support variety when it comes to ships. I just don't believe they should have different levels of access to the map. One ship should not be able to utilize holes if the other ships can't do the same thing. I know some people enjoyed being pests and abusing the size of their ship, but the time has come to grow balls and get on the same playing field as everyone else.
Pub is not a reflection of highly competitive basing, nor should it be. However, I don't think we should even be discussing these problems in the same sentence, because the weasel and javelin present problems that are completely independent of each other. The small weasel was good for nothing but rushing the terrier. Now terrs stand a fighting chance, as they are supposed to, against weasels. Therefore this problem has for the most part been dealt with, and any further tweaking to ship six is not going to solve the javelin problem. In fact, with only one entrance to guard against invisible menaces, I'd say javelins now have even less of an excuse to be idiots.

Pub isn't supposed to be designed for 8 vs 8, nor should it mirror an 8 vs 8 environment. If this is your main reason for your proposed change, then it's not good enough.

Your argument supports the "make everything WB" ideology. In 8v8, is a weasel or two going to break the game? No. So making it big HURTS it in Basing, but neutralizes it in pub. If you want pub to be an example for basing, then I want to start seeing a fucking limit on how many javs per team there are. You think a terrier has it bad vs enemy weasels? That's nothing compared to the amount of morons you have javving.Originally posted by PH View PostYes, the small weasel was so much more efficient. I mean, how awesome was it to go through small holes that NONE of the other seven ships could? And how awesome was it when a pack of you basically swarmed the FR from the roof and slaughtered the terrier, a ship that was supposed to be able to deal with you? Yeah, that was real beneficial to basing.
Until you give the other ships more entrances to use, the weasel does not deserve special treatment. Period.
Until shit like that is fixed, the weasel does not deserve special treatment, so don't focus on it, and give it back it's purpose.

new weasel = death of lev
I guess the point of the new/old weasel is to limit levs, but honestly, all they're doing is spawnkilling levs. No skill involved, no management of energy, no basing. Just laming.
Now, I play a lot as a lev so it sux to be me, BUT, I also played a bit as a the new/old weasel. It was incredibly boring.
