So if you draft someone good, say... who is good now? I don't even know. Baserman7358_^X? Is he good? Anyway. Say he's good. And you draft him. But he won't play for your team. You tell him, "Well, if you don't play for my team then you won't play." What does he care? He's Baserman823&*_X! He's good! (I think.) He's the motherfuckin' king of Trench Wars. (Possibly.) Who are you going to replace him with? Me? I'll play. Shit. Unfortunately, I fucking suck, which is why I wasn't picked already. I am no replacement for Baserman778%^#&®¬¥§»75283_____X. He's the fucking shit.

But its not like its a really big deal to win a match,If baserman(in this situation) doesnt want to play,then he shouldn't play? So what, just add another one and be happy, Its not like its twl or something, Its just for fun? To let new players get in the action or atleast smell it a lil bit, Its not so fucking big deal if you win or lose(Ofcourse you play to win,but come on ,One player or two that doesnt want to play? So what ),I think it could be just a fun idea to try out.

other issues with previous draft-leagues:
- immature players signing up who refuse to play for the team they were drafted in (because they want to play for a certain captain or with certain people or not with certain people), which can result in quite uneven teams..

i'd be interested to play if someone (sumpson, zerz?) will draft a benelux-team which will own the whole league/cup, like benelux always owns every basing-event..

It will be good by the time I'm done with it. Unless fo course you are suggesting that it will suck simply because we have different opinions about certain people, because we both know that makes sense, right? Anyways, back on topic. Soilderz summed it up well. I would like to see a higher level of competition with this than TWD, but if "Baserman" cries because he would have to play against "Facetious" instead of with him, then that player can enjoy the bench and "Soilderz" can enjoy the competition. I'm pretty confident at this stage that some sort of draft will take place in the foreseeable future, so providing as much constructive criticism can only help at this point.

those ppl who support the idea definitely did not play in the previous draft leagues.

it's true, there will always be people who wants to play.. but the problem is, do YOU want to play on a team in which you will lose 0-15 every single game? even the 'newbs' will get tired of that shit. squads will dissolve or pullout of TWL/TWD if it happens to them all the time, let alone a draft team.

it's really simple

1) your best player doesnt want to play for you cause of various reasons (dont like you, dont like some ppl on team, want to play on friend's team, etc)
2) you start losing cause your best players just doesnt show up, or show up aliased on another team
3) your so-so players kicks in and start playing, but lose interest cause your team keep on getting whiped
4) your soso players stop showing up, your 'newb' players kick in and start playing, your team start going 0-15, 1-15 everygame
5) your 'newb' player lose interest, byebye team You.

I would like to see a higher level of competition with this than TWD,[/SIZE]

i hardly see an all-star team vs an all-pubber team competitive.

and lets face it, basing itself doesnt have THAT many players in it. how many 'spare' players can you really get? what's your next resource? pubbers? let's get real. for a basing team, even if you have 5 really good spiders, if u dont have the sharks or terr, your team is finished.

and another thing, lets face it lizard, how many staffers do you really think will fully support you and let YOU run the draft league? you know how long it took for randedl to get full support to host a draft league? you have been kicked out of tw radio, getting kicked out of tw.org/gallery, axed from dev, banned from tw, have fits with every upper staffers, on half of staff's ignore list. seriously... time to use that lil thing called brain in your head.

Finally, something worth while to disect.

By the numbers....

1) A halfway competant captain will most likely pick the people he likes and know are halfway decent before the rest. If these people are interested in COMPETING instead of aliasing/whining, then won't be a problem.
2) Best player doesn't show up. Real life plans or whatever. With rosters big enough to support 2 teams, there should be enough talent left to fill in. There is plenty of underrated talent in ?go base.
3) Again, if captains are at least half intelligent they will pick a team they think will win. Not to point fingers, but people like Megaman89 and Redbull will be captaining, not people like Eelam or Bobyz.
4) Details can be fine tuned later, but pending how many 'newbs' register to play, I would like to see it that EVERYONE on the roster play at least 2-3 games, which will keep all skill levels involved, and cause the 'so-so' players to kick it up a notch. You get better by playing with better, and I believe this will have long term effects by increasing TWL competition by bringing out new talent.
5) Players will lost interest. Thats a given. But if this goes the way I want it to, then more games will finish 15:00-14:30 or 15:00-13:00 then 15:00-1:00. I can speak for everyone when I say that a close game is much more fun to play in than a blowout, no matter which side you are on.

How many teams do we have right now competing in TWBD? I skimmed quickly and counted 11 teams with over 5 games since the last twd reset. Not going to count rosters but instead consider the average roster size of lets say....20 (Probably more) Thats 220 players. Given they wont all want to play in a Draft, lets say 1/2 wont. That leave 110 players + those not on basing squads that enjoy basing + Players not on squads that enjoy basing (like me) + People new to the idea that want to participate. Lets throw a fairly realistic # out there and say thats at least....150 people. Does that not sound like enough talent to you? It does to me.

Saved my favorite for last. I dont need all of staff to support this. Hell, I only need 2 or 3, which I already have. I also do not need to RUN the league, I am fully capable, but others are as well. ECT is already equipped with a 'basing event' person in WorstPlayerEver. She's fully capable too. How many events has dev turned in to TW over the last 6 months anyways. I dont know exactly, though I should, but my guess would be less than 5. It already has turned into a bad one. Apparently you're missing the part about the failed Draft leagues in the past. Exactly what are you going to think of and change that will make this so much different than the past failures? Until you hammer those details out, specifically, to the letter, you're just setting yourself up for failure. You're jumping into this way to quickly, and you are, no offense, the last person who should be involved in this. I bet you a lot of people would not bother signing up/playing simply because they feel a league organized by you is bound to be a waste of time. The sad part is, they might not be far off. If a Draft League is ever going to work in Trench Wars, it's not going to be under your watch, Lizard Fuel.

No. A team's best player is not replaceable by their 9th best player. That's just stupid.

Mandatory newbie playing is the only idea you've had that's ANY different from the several draft leagues that have miserably failed, but the "vets" will have even less interest in their team if they are restricted from playing. I don't think it'll help.

Everyone has told you that your draft league idea is no different than anybody else's. The games will not be even.

No "amount of talent" will make up for the fact that your idea is fucking stupid and the teams will be pretty uneven to start, and get progressively more uneven as time goes on.
