Well my point is that it doesnt matter anymore since its already said and done. This game has, from an optimistic point of view, 2 more TWL seasons before death. That wont change regardless of what is done. LB will be the first to go, as squads will have a difficult time sustaining 8 player lines. You must have missed the purpose of my thread entirely. It's 2 years too late to listen to people.

My response were more directed at you and Wark in the past. My point was that you could have done so much better than this of you just had cut our your bullshit earlier. Maybe some of your points might have been taken into consideration if it didn't end up with a staff attack, or any other sort of harassment.

I do agree, it's too late to do anything now, but that doesn't mean that we should stop trying.

I've pretty much quit this game, all I have left is Diso chat, which I love more than my family.

Reason why I quit was because I invested in a new computer.

I could either play Contiuum, now even more gimped due to my new 22" widescreen, or go out there and play new fantastic games that supports it.

Right now I need to finish Bioshock and Gears of War, before I got time for Half-Life 2, Crysis, and Supreme Commander. Not to mention that I need to tend to my Team Fortress 2 skills as well. There's just not time to actually sit down and get good/enjoy at this game again. And when I actually do play, I just sit there annoyed of the stretched graphics or the windowed mode.

For each player that has to go out and get a new computer, we have a really big chance of losing another active player.

I'm in a similar boat. Though I haven't quit the game and occasionally fall into an all night session of Subspace.... I am spending more and more time just trying to keep up with all the OTHER video games I play. I am at the end of about five different games, including Bioshock, Orange Box, Stalker, Call of Duty 4, etc, etc.. and it's only going to get worse with the dozen new awesome games coming out.

You can hardly blame staff for not taking you that seriously when, as you say, don't care enough to act serious about helping the zone. Theres been good and bad changes over the years, and my personal view on that is that it doesn't really matter in the long run. Theres no defence against a new computer and new array of games that blows this out of the water.

didn't bother to read most of the thread but yeah here's my 2 cents:

new players shouldn't be dropped in a pub (pure or not) and figure out for themselves what the point is.

an ingame tutorial (arena) for everyone who first enters (dunno if this is possible, but it should've always been there from the beginning):
-explain the different ships
-explain the different games (dueling (wbs/javs) and basing)
-explain the different arenas to play the game you prefer (elim/tourny/duel/dm or pub/?go base)
-explain the ultimate goal for most players and what has been keeping this game so strong: league play. twd/twl
Keep it simple.

like face, i think, said get rid of all stupid sidegames that have different settings and just have nothing to do with tw's gameplay.

i think graphically this game was already losing out in early 2000s so the graphical difference between new games then and new games now with this game isn't that much different.. ppl just want to quickly know what the goal in a game actually is or they'll just move on. and we're terrible at explaining anything to new players, so they'll quit unless they stick around long enough to find out things on their own, with a big chance they'll just end up playing side-events without ever finding out about twd or twl before they get bored with those side-events..

but yeah i don't care, i'm starting to get on my last legs aswell i am afraid..

Im not saying every vet is a callous p.o.s. with illusions of grandeur on some silly space game , just most of them , that I've encountered are ridiculous . Either they don't say anything to new players or they say ez. I don't know why Im even bothering to post this , as i expect it to get trashed or ignored.
Anyways who cares if new players are'nt sticking around. I think a small majority of veteran players probably like the fact that there are fewer and fewer challenges to overcome. I.e. new and up coming players. But the fact is no kid wants to play a game for a long time unless he makes some friends to keep it interesting. My two cents.

I dont think we have met or talked, but I dont think I treat anyone (new or vet) the way you describe.

vets and "vets" alike have always been assholes in this game for the most part. i dont know when you first started on crips, eph, but a lot of you guys were assholes to new players back in the day. im not saying you were in particular, but as long as i can remember, a lot of the vet players were jerks. of course there were some nice vets back then, but there are also some nice vets now.
