As I've said in other threads I really think (other than the obvious, that this game fucking sucks) it's the stupid minigames that have nothing to do with anything you can play in leagues. If you really wanted anyone to read this thread you really should have changed the title though. Your points are far from invalid, but hardly anybody is going to read that shit.

I've pretty much quit this game, all I have left is Diso chat, which I love more than my family.

Reason why I quit was because I invested in a new computer.

I could either play Contiuum, now even more gimped due to my new 22" widescreen, or go out there and play new fantastic games that supports it.

Right now I need to finish Bioshock and Gears of War, before I got time for Half-Life 2, Crysis, and Supreme Commander. Not to mention that I need to tend to my Team Fortress 2 skills as well. There's just not time to actually sit down and get good/enjoy at this game again. And when I actually do play, I just sit there annoyed of the stretched graphics or the windowed mode.

For each player that has to go out and get a new computer, we have a really big chance of losing another active player.

Supreme Commander = overrated. Get TASpring http://spring.clan-sy.com/ for a true sucessor to TA. It has better graphics and has a kickass multiplayer mode. If people looked at the settings for there graphics card they could fix the widecreen problem in continuum and play TW fullscreen. You need to turn of picture streaching, then it will look nice.

On the point of pubs, i have to agree with izor, pubs are more fun with private freqs and leviathans, and without the timer. I had great fun in a session in leviathan pub earlier today, flying around base with a couple of leviathans attached, fighting for the flagroom with another LT and a freq of WBs. Thats what makes tw great. Not this frenzied, lagfest in pure-pub of javelins.

Unfortunatly, the way I see it, at the moment the whiny newbs have won and TW is going to go into decline.

Often there is a stituation (later and night or early morning) where every pub is pure and you can't play on a private freq or as a leviathan.

The endgame of Continuum has still not been played out, there is much that still can be salvaged. However the only way this game is going to survive beyond the next 2/3 years is the development of a new modern game client, once which uses the power of modern 3d graphics. This is where the focus of our developmental efforts should be imo. We need subspace II.

I have to confess that I've probably a lot to do with with the rapid decline in growth of this zone. Shooting newbies down in public one by one and calling them ez is probably one of the detriments for them to continue to play. Newbies get angry, they hunt me, die again, then get even more angry. Eventually they get tired from continuous failed attempts to kill me, stop trying, spec, start using racial slurs, and get banned. Newbies who don't get banned, realize it's hopeless to even continue playing this game when they eventually will have to compete against great players like me.

i disagree... when i first started the ability to play many different types of games contributed largely to why i stayed. i still enjoyed the main games - especially base, but after a while i needed a break from the same old thing.

What sucks is that some of original QSers actually had some valid input to this game, but decided to go diva about it and _act_ all elite.

I honestly think that both Wark and Izor could have done good things for the zone, but you both screwed yourself for the sake of attention.

I agree with izor, and I agree because I'm a wb, and its what I like to play.

If this game was pure basing when I started 8 years ago, I would never have stayed. I dont like basing to be honest, actually I hate it. If this game didnt have wb duels (before twdd was around we did duels in private arenas) I never ever would have stayed, period. I wouldnt have even opened the game up twice.

Now maybe this is purely my opinion and I'm sure a bunch of you love to base and love to promote it, which is good, but players like me who most likely have played LONGER than you, do not like basing.

And brand new players do not know how to change arenas in the first place, and if they enter an arena where there is no lev, and there is no real "wb" dueling going on, then they have no incentive to learn those ships, because the game promotes basing from the very beginning

now I know trenchwars is "supposed" to be a basing zone, but to be honest this zone is only popular for the one hit kill wb and the jav duels, and basing mainly as an afterthought for a lot of players. Basing is NOT the popular league by far, mainly because people dont like basing as much, its not very fun to me and I have never wanted to learn, nor care to, or care to play it

anyone notice you can see a DD or JD match going on almost all times of the day, but you almost NEVER see a BD? wonder why? its not just the player amount needed.... its because lots of people DONT like to base, on top of that the ones that do dont log on this game very much, because basing is not fun enough to keep playing for long periods of time. Also it doesn't promote their individual skills, so new players arnt really known and people play this game for long periods of time to get better, and only want to get better to become known as a good player, and only want to become known as a good player if what they are learning actually promotes them as an individual

people like individualism, they like being known as good players, not as just a good "team"l, wb and jav you can do that, and you can do it within a team game too... basing is waywayway too much "team" first that it doesnt promote the individuals talent besides to the immediate basing crowd... personally I dont know many basers and dont care about them, nor do I know what ship they are good at or if they are good at all honestly, and majority of them dont stick to this game they change over the years, they quit frequently, it gives me no incentive to really look out for that next great "generation" player, because if hes a baser hes worthless to me, and he most likely will quit within the next few months because basing becomes boring fast

being a baser myself, I agree with your main points just not to the same degree. I think 0 beginners should start out as wbs and then move on to basing if they choose so. At least thats what happened to me. And the whole pure pub thing doesnt help out lb at all. You see the same pubbers play in 0 time after time never even trying ?go base. Why would they? they dont get picked 9/10 times anyways.

Well my point is that it doesnt matter anymore since its already said and done. This game has, from an optimistic point of view, 2 more TWL seasons before death. That wont change regardless of what is done. LB will be the first to go, as squads will have a difficult time sustaining 8 player lines. You must have missed the purpose of my thread entirely.
