Elimination / Competition Proposition

I still stand by my idea. Get rid of the ?go javs map. Force everyone to play elim, k thx. have the bot do javelin, warbird, javelin, warbird , javelin, warbird(not one of those 2), javelin, warbird, javelin, warbird, javelin, warbird (random again), ETC.....

I play elim too but you dont see me bitching about the differences. This could possibly make tw better, not worse. The overall goal is to increase skill, and having people play 2 ships would increase skill would it not? Thanks for listening, hope to see some positive replies instead of all the 1 shippers bitching.

In the past it was a huge success. It's also better for the community. TW is not so active anymore, so it's better if one arena attracts different groups of people. To be honest, we need to go back to the basics. In the pub days TW was really fun, you could have a good laugh. Now TW is too much about ego, status and who has the biggest mouth. The only reason I can think of why you want to keep elim divided, is because of the ranking or 'showing you are good'. (or another selfish reason)

Oh and I saw someone or some people say that elim = warbird. Haha. Elim was created for different ships. In fact each ship was played in the original elim arena (warbird, javelin, spider, levi, terrier, lancaster and cloacker). The only reason to split it, was the size of the crowd. That argument is no longer valid, so it's time to give elim it's original purpose back.

Ps: if you play different ships, subspace/tw might not be so boring

this is retarded, fuck javs, every time i go in tourny im forced to jav. I go to elim to wb not to get out voted for a shitty jav sesson. Theres a reason why baseelim is dying, dont let it kill elim too.

frankly, it would be cool if elim and baseelim were in the same arena... i'm pretty sure that is impossible. but if elim could happen on half the arena and baseelim on the other half.. perhaps people would play javs while waiting for the elim game to end or something. people don't like to leave the arena, trust me, they are that lazy

Killer Idea, and yeah people are lazy, But usually the other way around like on tourny days, you seem to see people leaving for arena or the other depending on what starts the soonest, then miss the arena that they actually tried first cuz there playing the other one. hahaha. anyway.
All for this. 1 bad thing, where really low on coders.. I mean really low.

There is also benefits to this, javs get to talk with wbers, creating maybe one squad instead of 2 squads. ohhh..

I said this earlier in the thread that I'm for the idea, even though I play elim a HELL of a lot. I'm wiling to put my selfishness behind and allow this game to grow. If more people are playing elims at once, and a bit more variation will stop people from being bored shitless of one type of elim.

Can do the whole alternating thing, wb/jav without votes..Just means there's no jav/wb vote spamming and people calling each other newbies over stupid votes.

I agree with LAME also, elim is for different ship types also, not just wb.

All Hercules is trying to say is BE open minded about it. I say at LEAST give this a trial, and if it doesn't work out for the population, you can always change it back, but I think this change is good. Seriously.

I think Elim and Baseelim will be merged together, random games between warbird and jav. Running concurrent Javlin and Warbird games in the same arena wouldn't work too well plus it's a lot to keep track of. I also suggested to Mav that we could add a box where people could duel in warbirds like the ?go WBS thing. WBS didn't work as a sub-arena but the idea wasn't terrible so if there's enough room on the original elim map it can be added.

Nothing is set in stone yet but I think the above is the best way to move forward. All of this is being worked on under the new Roboreplacement bot. Javs I think should remain untouched since it has shown to be consistently popular, the less we force people into a corner of the zone the better. We do need to change things up because of the current size of our population.

this is against what most people have wanted. It appears to be what they want, but you've added in the part about alternating between games. People were OK with the merge as long as they could still play as a WB without having to wait for javs to play (like tourny). The only redeeming part is that they can't get out voted constantly (like tourny) but they still will have to deal with jav elimes 50% of the time, even if there isn't anyone in the arena that wants to play one.

You've said that both jav elim and wb elim can't happen at the same time, but that's the whole basis for people agreeing to merge the arenas.

Merging baseelim and javs, along with merging elim with a sort of wbs seems like the more feasible plan if you can't have concurrent games in the same arena.

I think this will disenfranchise the elim population at the expense of the beelim population, the core argument of those against the merge in the first place.

elim should be let be for the same reason as javs

it has done well by itself, i personally dont like baseelim cause the map is horrible and matches in jav take forever. Plus having to duel in sharks and cloakers wtf?

We might be able too. I just said it would take more work to run WB and Jav elim games parallel to each other. If we can do that I don't know if we have enough real-estate on the Elim/Belim map to do free-play areas for WB and Jav anyways. If that's the case Jav can remain as is, the WBS thing isn't worth messing up everything else.
