There will no doubt be quite a bit of testing before this is released publicly. As for updates, I'm surprised you're asking as I posted this thread two days ago; however, holding true to my promise to keep you guys in the loop, I am still coding the framework for the bot itself. I currently have 500 lines of code done, but have not submitted anything yet. My aim is to let anyone know my progress at any time; simply ask.

Milosh, your idea is good and i think that it can work. Since i "retired" from TW i've been online few times and i've seen that ?go javs is wery popular. I've been staff for about 5-6 years and i've seen how this zone has been evolved over the years. I remember those gold days when ppl were really playing this game like never before. At weekends we had like 550 players playing and believe me or not, only 20 were bots (now 350 at weekends with 50 being bots)... Ahh, those good old times (that ruined my social life). Anyway, my point is that ppl needs and WANTS! Competition!. Elim is not the same anymore! There are no rankings and no competition!. I remember when it was so awesome to be first in rankings and brag about it to others (and show how nerd you really are). Now there is just Elfbot that acts like robo ref and doesnt record any true rankings... NO ONE CAN REPLACE ROBO REFS!!! DO YOU HEAR ME!!! NO ONE! They were here before i even born!!!... (or not) But! there are ways to make elim better! Really, just add rankings, it's common in human nature to be competive. What we need to do is to improve elim like it was before. We need to get rankings to work, IN EVERY EVENT THAT HAD RANKINGS BEFORE!

That means ELIM (including WARBIRDS and JAVS) And TOURNY!
I remember when tourny came. It was so awesome that it had solo ranks and also PARTNER RANKS! You can play with your partner and improve your ranks in every game. That made tourny so interesting.

What is TOURNY or ELIM now? It's just an arena where is a bot that announces a game... how interesting is that? it really isn't interesting at all...

As i said before, we need RANKINGS! That makes ppl addictive and THAT is what improves TW size. You can always advertise this game and zone in places, but why advertise when you dont have a complete zone!

Milosh, your idea is good and it can work if there is also rankings like in good old times. Next thing is that ppl should work on tourny thing. Staff, guys, buddies, Get those rankings working. I know that bot is messed up and sika wrote it in horrible nerd language but it cant be so hard to fix it when you got the idea about what it should do!

I believe that in tournybot, those calculation things are right... all you need is to reset those scores so bot can start to count in the beginning when everyone got 0 rating..

just went in the test map in twd Dev #pureownage and gotta say it works =0 is the baseelim map and =1 is the javs map. only prob is i think baseelim map's spawn is too big dont wanna take that long to go from spawn 2 base.

That's true, he's not talking about combining elim and belim though. He's talking about combining elim with ?go warbirds and belim with ?go javs.

Other proposed arena for the Baseelim/Javs is up in Dev Zone also. It's ?go #POwnage

The only difference is the maps are reversed, and the spawn points are not set.

I agree that I love the idea, but Hercules made a great point about packing one arena with lots of action, which would be the biggest benefit of an elim merger. I've said the same points several times before in different threads and I still stand by making everyone join in one arena where there is so much competition it's unbelieveable.

I think the points should be reset each elim, I want to be able to flick through F2 as quickly as I want not to see lots of large numbers that don't matter while playing elim. If someone wants to brag and have their score seen, !wl (or !kd, kills/deaths) command should be used for total kills/deaths and posting them in public chat if you have that big an ego.

Simple enough idea? I don't want to have to flick through names by PMing the bot with !wl JUST to see someone's current elim stats. It's too much bother, and F2 is fine the way it is, it means I can see multiple scores at a time really quickly and effectively.

If the old players want their javs rec or something they should just gain it back with this new system in my opinion.

edit: also, i liked how the old elfbot would let you in until the go go go go!!!... it can't be that big of a burden to wait to lock until go (rather then starting in 15 seconds...) can it?

I guess nobody likes my idea of merging the javs/belim, but keeping elim it's own arena. It seems like nice compromise to me. Baseelim has always had trouble keeping numbers up, but if javs were right in it, they could keep the active numbers needed for baseelim to stay alive.

As for elim, I doubt it'll have a problem keeping the numbers up once the ranking systems are back.

Just thought I'd update everyone on the status. The bot is very near completion. I've done about 6 beta tests in DEV zone and ironed out a lot of kinks. Sometime within the next couple weeks beta arenas will be uploaded into TW. The bots will be put up and allowed to run endlessly so that people can try them out. Hopefully, players will migrate to these beta arenas instead of playing in elim, baseelim, and ?go javs, but I'm not too expectant as change can be a bit uncomfortable. Once the beta arenas have run successfully for a few weeks and I've worked out the remaining bugs I will rename the arenas and close down elim/baseelim/javs. Your ideas and opinions are still appreciated.

but it could use some tweaks.

I'd say a good portion of people complained about the confusing numbers in the stats box (f2) and how it's difficult to tell who's still playing in the elim or not without getting typekilled. Then there's figuring out your rec after going on a hotstreak cause someone's been spamming your chats and you can't look "up". Probably more of a nuisance than an actual complaint.

It's still a better system and I'm pretty sure people will get used to the change. But is there a possible way to include a display (such as that in the league matches) at the top right displaying Top 10 or so players with the lead in rec (or points) and then beneath that, your own rec? Completely more convenient than looking down in chat and/or pming the bot for your score. That would eliminate a few complaints and almost make this idea perfect. And it. Would. Be. S-I-C-K-N-E-S-S!


Edit: And WTF is up with the end-game stats? I got Best Effort with a 1-5 score being the first one out. On the plus note, I shot one bullet, killed one person, got typekilled the rest of those deaths out and got 100% best aim shooting accuracy. $$.
