I think i covered that in my original post. We can still have the traditional 8 versus 8 games with standard 4 spider/2 shark/1 special/1 terr, JUST hosted in a different map. OR I could have the ?go base maps change every friday like dads does with the pubs.

well how about we leave go base the way it is, and when there is a big basing event, we shut down .?go base (remove the bot) for the half hr or so that the event is going on? I don't think basing events on fridays will be hosted consistently.

We can do this. I said the CONCEPT was a 24 hour shutdown. Why dont we shut it down for like 6 hours on Thursdays from 6pm -12am(that way it ends when tourny begins? Days and times are easily changed. But the idea i am trying to have come across is the same.

why would you try to force people into doing something they dont want to do? If they really wanted to go to the hosted events, they would leave ?go base, and go to them.


If you want to play huge base games, host them in pub or something(not saying other base games shouldnt be hosted, but there is just no sense in closing go base), that way you are at least showing new people about base games, and they have the option of going to another pub if they dont want to play your event.

Lol what does it accomplish if its still the exact same thing? Your argument is that people complain when the same events are hosted, right? Well people complain that hunt is constantly hosted whether it be in ?go hunt or any other random arena. This is pretty much the exact same thing, except it inconveniences the group loyal to basing.

Go back to the way old things were: Get rid of bots. ALL of them. They lead to lazy and incompetent staff that have too much free time so they focus on meaning less shit like racism and warning people from abusing ?help/etc.

And while I'm at it... get rid of TWD. It's been the single biggest factor in decreasing the overall skill level in TW.

Back to the point though. Before bots, hosted events actually meant something. Having 8v8 meant getting 20 people together, finding a mod, then having crazy fun for hours as everyone that was there was *serious* about it. Now you get shit like this in ?go base:

Maybe just get an open schedule for submissions for events that gets filled on a first come first serve basis over the course of the week, and it all gets hosted friday night or whenever.

The biggest fight Staff have with hosting basing events, is that ?go base is on, and who really wants to leave a comfortably good game of base for some new base where newbs are teamkilling you, or the terr is a newb... ect. But as a host it gets frustrating. Why spend all the time setting up an event where only 12 people show up and then trying to keep people staying the entire game when ?go base starts a new game?

I don't think its a good idea to make any changes based on the above reasoning. I do think its important that the host enjoy hosting. That said, hosts should be hosting events that players want if they want to draw players. Maybe this does mean that some events will be hosted a lot more than others, but so what? If the players like it, lets host it, if the players don't like it.. then what is it being hosted for? We shouldn't be taking things away from players in order to funnel them into something they don't enjoy as much.
