This is just getting retarded.
Distort, my comments were in relation to Kthx's "Good Game Newbies" regarding the loss of players on distension chat. He was hinting that "the game" or "the war" as he likes to call it, is over.
The purpose of my comment was illustrating hte fact that we will move to another server if it comes to it.
If you are going to be hypercritical of my posts atleast do so in the correct context.. egotistical fuktard.

Until you are capable of doing something (in this case whatever distension needs to move forward), it will be done on the schedule of those who actually are capable of doing it.

Hell, every time qan or another staff member has to divert their attention to you or this thread they are losing time they could have spent working on it. You want to start your own zone? Here you go, otherwise sit the fuck down and wait it out.

Third, I hardly consider it incessant whining when Tagmor's been trying to find information every day for 2+ weeks with no replies. It's fairly obvious he could care less about all the shit talking you guys come back with. He's not posting to start fights or just to pick on people (like several others in here) he's actually interested in the game (unlike several people in here).

Fourth, at what point will you stop trolling the distension forum LB? I mean it's not like we go into TWL threads and constantly harass the people in there? What you're doing now pretty much amounts to harassing Tagmor for your own personal pleasure.

Staff has their work cut out for them. Regardless of who thinks what should be the top priority in the zone right now, everyone can agree that staff has alot of work on their plate, and not a huge amount of people willing to sacrifice their time to do so.

There are two problems, that Tagmor is either refusing to address, or simply doesn't understand. I'm inclined to believe the former rather than the latter, simply because he's being driven by the very thing that he is arguing against- his free time and what he wants to do with it. As an avid Distension player, he obviously wants to see Distension up and running- he's even offered a few hundred bucks to go into fueling some people's desire to get this project on a more stable footing.

Staff has a life outside of the game, and each person has their own obligations that hands down, come before subspace. Some people are in school (Med school, college, high school), some people have kids, some people have their friends and girlfriends, and some have major hobbies that they love to throw time into. Regardless, staff has their own ideas about their free time and what they want to do with it. So we hit problem number one, Staff has their own lives, and Subspace frankly isn't as high on their lists, as some players want it to be.

Problem number two, is the lack of information. Ontop of having their own busy lives, staff also has to work together and tackle the number of projects they need to keep TW running. The difference with being apart of the public, and not being apart of staff, is that we don't and for the most part won't- ever know when or what happens a majority of the time in regards to the upkeep of the zone, forums and everything TW. But that's fine, because we don't need to know every single nut and bolt of the process. That's what we have staff for, to keep us informed on the process, but not drag us down with the details of every meeting or agreement they come to. Just because you might want updates every week or two weeks, doesn't mean you are going to get them. This is when you have to be patient, and hope for the best.

Now I see dedicated staffers like HMS, Qan and Stabwound trying to work on this project. Tagmor getting frustrated about the lack of information, and staff choosing to not spend all of their free time on Distension- does not warrant the current bitching and "TW Staff wants to see distension fail" attitude that I keep seeing him post with. Qan has even said he's working on Distension and to be patient, but Tagmor kept up with the negative attitude. Yeah Distension has been down for awhile, it sucks I'm sure. Yea you aren't getting consistent info, it sucks I'm sure.

But there is nothing productive in railing on the staff that is trying to get this to work out. You have to be patient, if it's worth that much bitching then it's worth offering your support in anything you can help with, and being patient.

A big issue with having a slot like 3am EST is that there's a good chance no one will be around to start it up. It can't even be guaranteed that games in a "normal" time slot would be started on time. There are a limited number of ops, and as it's qan's game, he has complete control over the op list as well as the final say on everything, so it's not quite as easy as just adding more ops.

Unfortunately, Distension is once again down indefinitely as it recycled the server earlier today. qan says he'll be able to work on it this week, so that presents an opportunity to work on a schedule as well.

What about something like 12-3pm and 9-12pm EST? I agree that if there is going to be multiple slots per day, they should probably be spread out more. It might possibly be reduced to two hour sessions as well in order to accommodate the rest of the zone, something like 12-2pm and 10-12pm.

btw, the hosting schedule is ultimately up to PL/qan, but if we work out a decent one I'm sure they'll agree to it.

I do not think starting out you can possibly get the times perfect. I would say start with what you have maybe spread them out a little further than currently because they are hosted close together and then find out how many people are on the wait list at the start and toward the end of the game. Then slowly adjust times to fit when there are the most distension players online.

Just throwing this out there: what did you guys all think of the 2-5pm and 8-11pm EST schedule that was running for a while?

If anyone has any input on other possible schedules, let's hear it, too.

2-5pm and 8-11pm means both sessions are withing 9hours. There is a good chance those 9 hours fall on sleeping and working/school periods for alot of time zones.
I would suggest either spreading them a little further apart, or asking for a 3rd session. Say around 3am EST when nobody is twd'n anyway.

2-5pm or 3-6pm would be a pretty good one for euros, and the other slot (8-11pm, 9-12pm, whatever) is decent for the rest i guess.

First off, thanks to Stabwound for picking up the project.

Second, thanks to HMS for restarting it a couple of months ago, after a long time of inactivity. Don't know what made you quit, but hopefully it wasn't over a lack of respect for what you tried to do.

At least HTF's trying to make sense of it (even though he seems not read Qan's posts about what he's fixed [though it seems it's not 100% there yet], how long it takes to fix things, or how he's been testing it for over a year IN TW [not dev, which would crash much sooner than TW as it can't handle the same load...] no worries, neither are wark or lb). I have no hope for Wark, other than he's just playing the asshole role, one in which he needs no help. The zone's suppposedly at a two year high, yet we still don't have 3 pubs up and running (which we did less than two years ago). People have left distension's chat EXACTLY because of the INACTIVITY, not because they think it will never work. The EXACT same thing happened over the summer, only to see even more people on the chat when it restarted this fall.


Fifth, 8pm-11pm or 8pm-midnight is a good time slot (so good that TWD diehards will complain). Who is supposed to play in the 2pm-5pm slot? That seems like one that could be changed to better suit Euros/Aussies (if it doesn't already). I don't think a lot of US players will be on from 2-5 EST (11-2 PST). It seemed like that was a schedule that was more convenient for teh hoster than the players, but I could be forgetting about some group of ppl.

2-5pm sounds good, 8-11pm not so much. What if you made it from 8pm to 1 or 2am? That way some euros, like me, could play in morning before school/work. :turned:
