Distension effected more people then just the main players.

^^ this thread has be sidetracked so so so far... most distension players are reasonable and see not a conspiracy but just mistakes and bugs that frustrate and annoy... I'm looking forward to the bot being really fixed (which dug is working on) and stab setting out a good timeslots, and getting enough ops to start it on time or adding a timer to the bot to start at set times.

tbo, i wasn't taking anyone's stance on "conspiracy theories" seriosly, nor am i under any delusions (or intentions) to make/push for a separate zone/recoding.

If anything, like many aspects of life, the silent majority sits by and waits patiently while a few people with loud mouths (myself sometimes too) find something to do in the mean time.

No one's asking for daily updates (though if it was being updated daily, it wouldn't be too hard this; takes 5 mins to post). What we are (were) asking for was a clue to the direction staff wants to take. That part wasn't unreasonable. HMS had just left a message at the time about quitting on distension, and seeing how he was the most interested staffer, as well as one of like 2-3 ppl capable of moving forward with the game, we just wanted to know what was going to happen next. We were given the answer in a timely fashion by Stabwound, so it's all in the past anyway. We don't expect anything more than a quick post after big updates, because they are usually few and far between. That's hardly asking a lot, and for the most part, we've been given more than what we ask for.

Really, besides saving your e-egos, there's no reason for anyone outside of the distension world to even bother replying to Cheese!, Tagmor, or anyone else in here. They're talking about staff in regards to distension: if you're not a distension player, not a distension OP, and not a staff member who has input into the inner workings of distension; then you have no reason to reply to them! Why are you guys wasting your time? You're just cluttering up what could be a useful thread for ppl like Qan or Stabwound who want to use it for bugs/suggestions.

I would be more concerned with the context of the "we" you are using. Since you have no influence over anything in an official capacity, I'll assume this to mean the few die-hard distensionistas that are making this out to be a conspiracy. What's egotistical is to think that everyone is out to get you when in reality most people wouldn't put forth the anywhere near the coordinated effort to "keep distension down".

I gave a very frank analysis of the situation with the recommendation of directing resources toward more fruitful endeavors. The truth is always more constructive than a lie, and even though it's not what you want to hear it is no less accurate. This is again going back to that thing about you being in your own little world and believing only what is beneficial to you.

As for there being a very small group of people capable of completing said conversion, there is no need to paint anything. Anywhere outside of TagMorLand™ there is very little escaping this fact. I don't even think I brought out my credentials other than to suggest that I am knowledgeable enough to advise on the subject. It's not a matter of skill. Well, ok there is a minimum skill threshold but the necessary experience trumps it by a large margin. Everyone in our little developers club has been doing it for several years now. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to make an attempt, but even if they are experts there are still a lot of things they won't know about this game in particular and will have to learn first. Go ahead, throw your $300 around. You will get what you pay for.

Or, you could take that money and put it towards that server you want. TagMorLand™ would make a nice zone name, and you wouldn't have to listen to anyone who disagrees with you. Once again, here is everything you need. We'll all be too busy here in you know, reality, to stop you.

Actually if you look at his earlier posts he was trying to be as polite and helpful as possible, knowing the size of the project and the time constraints it would require.

He made the comment about roxx sucking up because he was trying to sweet talk him into doing a ton of work, ironically after being so rude to others on the same page.

I've worked with at least 5 different programmers on the past two years while working on flash games and I can tell you off the bat that professional programmers aren't going to want to come in and do this type of work for free, much less IT students with exams and mid-terms to deal with. And yes, the $300 you offered is peanuts compared to what even mediocre programmers can pull off of jobs. It would already be a hassle stepping into a job like this, but if there's poor notation or lacking a clear structure it's going to simply annoy the programmers from the start- they really aren't fans of picking up people's old, unstable code and trying to get it working again. At the least they'd want to see how unstable the code is and decide if it would be easier to just start from scratch, or at least as basic a version as possible.

Top it off with what I was saying earlier about how these people have their own lives, own programs they might be working on and other things eating up their free time and I really don't think picking up programmers to do this is going to be as easy as you think.

After you've been around programmers enough you'll understand that while what they say might be harsh at times, they aren't trying to be. They deal with logic all the time while programming, and trying to keep stuff as simple and basic as possible- so they rarely skirt around the issue. He wasn't trying to be an ass to roxx, he was simply letting him know that it's a huge task, and that it won't get fixed as quickly as all the Distension fans are hoping for.
