Distension discussion

Distension will be back in action as soon as possible. First order of operation is to get a good, solid schedule going again. Unfortunately, weekends will be off limits for the duration of TWL as requested by PL.

Just throwing this out there: what did you guys all think of the 2-5pm and 8-11pm EST schedule that was running for a while?

If anyone has any input on other possible schedules, let's hear it, too.

The current chaotic and uninformative situation indicates at least one of two things.

1. Nobody is in charge of Distension
2. Whoever is in charge does not know what they are doing

If you look at the other main distension thread, it was started in October 2007. This was when distension was in public beta in #distension. Yet again, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

yes until the zone couldnt handle it so it was put back in tw dev. Anyone else remember typing ?go #distension to be brought into dev zone

it takes 5 secs to make a forum post. Look through and see how many times staff have addressed the many questions etc in this thread. The increase in "whining" is a direct result of Staffs failure to make it clear wtf is going on.

More important? Dist created the most interest in TW for along time.. Moreso than TWL, and yet getting a new server for dev is more important? hmm

When Distension came out of Beta it's chat constantly had 5+ lines.. now it is down to 2 at the most. People are leaving because of this giant fuck around and ZERO input from staff.

Yet zone population is at a two year high, go figure.

tag, dev zone is used for everything. Afterall thats where dist beta was hosted, thats where all the new events/ elim maps and everything come from. So yes id label dev zone more important then 1 event map. Specially when dev zone accounts for so much of tw.

So the 2 lines of chat couldnt result in people being gone for the holidays or just deciding distension wasnt worth it?

Everyone agrees distension is unstable, and dugs doing his best to fix it. You cant expect higher up staff allowing an event to happen that causes the zone harm. Maybe a reason the higher ups havent responded is they got better stuff to do. (like trying to get a new server for tw dev, promote trenchwars, bot coding) It may seem they do nothing at all, but i can say easily just from looking at ssforums and twcore that they have full plates atm.

Also main bot coders- MMav, alinea, milosh, dug. Mav has a full plate, and im positive dug is near the same. Milosh has med school and alineas prolly just as busy. Then you tack on christmas and holidays, you cant expect them to be coding the bots instead of spending time with friends and family. So i say just chill, wait a week and see what happens.

Edit: Also hms is a nice guy, quitting the game because distension cant be hosted 24/7 doesnt exactly seem like him. Im sure theres other contributing factors.
