i'm quitting this crap. once my own squad cap, who i admire a lot for keepin the squad together for a long time, belives more in a fucking newbie that joined a squad 1 week ago then in me, who have been in sk8 for quite some time and wanted the best and only the best for the squad, its basically over. sure it may not mean much to u but it sure does to me.

and since im leaving i might aswell say what goes on my mind about tw, since i dont care anymore about the so called reputation that ppl need to have in order to get staff:

-tw is full of arrogants assholes who think way too much of them and when the time comes to prove their skill, they choke and come up with the "i wasnt trying" talk. amusing to say at least;

-staff is full of crap (yea crazi im 100% with u), since i see lots and lots of crap there that should have got the place, just ppl who are staff because they are either in paladen or suck up on staffers. disgusting

-the way staff recrutes is simply pathetic, basically when KJW says "we recruit ppl who we know better" (meaning his own squad members and friends), this excludes completly the possibility of a player like me that could actually be a fine staff member ( say what u want, i think its true ) to get in staff, cause i wanted to get in for almost 1 year and a half, but since i dont suck up staffers i never got the place, while seeing players that very honestly arent staff material getting the place.

so think about it or not, couldnt care less now, this is just what i belive its true.

Regardless, I agree with down, at least on the recruiting methods. People who get on staff either suck up, or are put that way because their friends are high staff members. Paladen is an excellent example of this.

Let's see, when was the last time I hired anyone..... about a year or more ago? DUH! I try not to get involved with staff hiring at all if I can. Just ask Flabin, Mr. Spam (who are not in staff now, so you can believe what they say) about how they used to bug me about the who to hire stuff. I do NOT get involved.

As for the Paladen = staff issue that always seems to come up. Many staff members who are in Paladen were in staff BEFORE they joined Paladen...... so who cares!? Have you seen any Paladen staff members not do a good job working for the benefit of TW and it's players? Some of you people have no idea! Paladen members have donated more money to the server fund than any other squad.... I think the total donations by Paladen members is close to $400. Come on all you other hundreds of squads out there, get your members to help the zone and donate what ever $ they can!

Seems to me that Paladen works hard for the zone and it's players but there are many of you who don't really appreciate those things. You only want to whine and cry about how you were mistreated or abused. *hands out tissues to all those people*

Well, I'm sorry if you think you were so mistreated in your hopes for a staff position and I really do hope you have a good life out of SS. Good luck.

Trust me Down, being on staff is over rated. You know all those staffers you don't like? Now you're stuck on a chat with them. There's a few decent ones out there (some even get bad credit despite being good staffers and decent guys) ... but the rest? Yikes.

Speak your mind to them? They complain to a higher up who'll slam you. Love thy neighbour even if you can't stand the person. It's as fake as an office. Couple of people suggested I wasn't liked by certain members of the staff because I said what I thought instead of what they wanted to hear from a ZH on that point (aka, nothing).

Frustrated with TW policies? Work your ass off for a year, then take 100 equal length straws, one of which is cut half way down. If you can pull that straw out on the first attempt, maybe you'll get the posistion where you have a hope of making changes.

I'm not speaking for myself on the last one, but I know of other people to whom it happened. People who work hard for the zone, but due to personal differences never get the promotion.

Give KJW some credit. He's a decent guy who supports his staff and keeps giving a good word of encouragement, on top of maintaining the oldest TW squad still alive in the zone today (even though, no offense KJW, you guys shouldn't have made TWL-J with that bad a record).

You have to assess what you want to do before wanting to be part of staff. Do you want to help out the people you call "newb" all the time and be nice and helpful about it? Do you want to answer on average 100 help calls a month (people who knew me on staff will laugh at me for mentioning that seeing as I did squat on the staff chat ) ? You remember how you can get frustrated at the way an event is hosted? How about when 30 people are confused at the way you host, and you need to adapt to take it into account?

The hardest part of being on staff is trying to keep up with staff duties and still be able to enjoy playing the game. To be able to look at the way it's handled and think that the zone is properly managed.

Why did I quit staff? Because I was working all day in tech support already, and realised it wasn't what I should be doing at home as well. Because I didn't like the majority of people on staff as human beings. Tired of feeling that I left one work enviroment for another (and all the negatives that go with that ... once ya'all start working in an office, you'll know what I mean). And because I felt that the higher staff didn't represent sufficiently the general TW population, and thus were unable to make necessary changes to advance Trench Wars in any way except in the leagues. The server move was the final straw, despite it being out of their hands. And when giving up the ZH posistion I gave up the forum one too. Not because I didn't want to do it anymore, but I think ya'all were starting to dislike the way I did my job anyway And besides, the job should go along with a posistion ingame.

All in all, you're probably better off Downdraft

The attitude toward staff would be a lot better if someone were nominated by staff to be staff were run by the TW public beforehand. Then if the public approves via in-game feedback or via these forums, he/she should be put on staff for a probationary period for a few months, just to see how he/she holds up.
I don't care about the politics of the game, just as long as we get plenty of events hosted and cheater calls are answered ASAP.
