new suggestion for weasel that should pacify both sides of the argument

    Along with what guano was saying, have the weasel bullets be much less powerful, maybe L1, but make it rapid fire that moves at a slow speed, but keep the energy low... kinda like the lasertag weasel (only less powerful of course).

      I also like the idea of removing stealth.
      All ships should be the same size though. Having weasels coming through the holes in flagroom takes all the strategy out of the defense.

      Edit: Talking about pub here, not leagues.

        i think the mini-size allows for new vantage points of attack and actually helps the strategy in this game, both in pub and most likely in league. defending the tube gets stale and is way too restrictive on playing styles.

          No, it forces us to make NEW strategies for defence. To say that it takes all the strategy out is to suggest that players will be unable to adapt. Every change in the history of TW has caused some sort of adaptation. This is no different.

            upon several more days of playtesting as an uncloaked weasel, i can safely say that even if you'd remove cloak entirely, pub will still be my bitch. granted, the weasel will be pretty impossible for those wishing to learn it... but if you spend several days flying around with no cloak, no rockets, no multifire, and dueling warbirds and terriers, you'd be able to hold your own against any ship(s) in any situation.

              You mean against any newbie. Only lag/luck will give you chances fighting in an uncloaked weasel vs a skilled warbird, jav, or terrier.
              Be realistic please -_-

              EDIT: as for spiders and lancs, they'll just tear apart the weasel =)

                So when public basers learn how to base with the pub strat, then they will have bigger problems becomming real basers. I think that public should be close to real basing, as close as it gets. So we can get more good basers around here. I've tried to base in pub with these settings, and I always have to shout at my terr to put X on, he always ignores it. And suddenly there's 4 X in base going past my mines and kills the terr, and some random ppl.

                            i completely agree with you.. however, the fact that i agree with you is irrevelent. you brought up a point i was trying to bait by posting that earlier statement.

                            if pub is, in fact, that newbie-filled to where i can run around and absolutely own pretty much anyone in an uncloaked weasel.... then how can we possibly use pub as a testing field? almost all the results from testing will be horribly inaccurate since most of the people that would care enough about tw to do hardcore playtesting are most likely veterans... and the testing conditions are on newbies/less-skilled players.

                            we should be testing these settings tweaks in a controlled environment such as ?go base2, etc. anything that works in private basing should by all definitions work well in pub also. some people tend to believe that pub and ?go base are two completely different games. well, they're only different by having structured teams and a higher overall skill level (i.e. people who more frequently know what they're doing). those two elements alone make private basing an IDEAL testing ground for new pub settings.

                              i didnt read all of this thread, so if I'm being redundant forgive me. the one hit kill makes trench unique. I like playing other zones like EG, but Trench's 1 hit kill is fun. If you take that away, trench mine as well be EG. Unless you mean give the weasel a red bullet... but you know how that goes.

                                I would much prefer to see a modification on the energy drain of Cloak and Radar combined so that you cant have both engaged for more than 20 - 30 Seconds simultaneously.

                                Probably been said before, but hey.. Worth a try.
