oooh. wouldn't it be cool if there was a 1v1 left and they are taking too long, a timer counts down (maybe 5 minutes) and when 1 minute is remaining, doors start closing in on them only allowing them to play in a small area but if they get caught in the doors closing, they would get warped and then disqualified.

From my experience, people enjoy playing more when they think someone else is watching. I think part of the fun of elim is the fact that the losers have to sit there and watch the winner win while waiting for the next game to start. Sure we're forcing this upon people, but then why not learn something from spec instead of whining.
Originally posted by Zeebu View Postit really was nice when they were originally combined.
unless you played back then and really hated the way it was, at least give it a chance before shooting it down.
besides, like you said riske, the active elim right now is belim. we havent suddenly sprouted a ton more wbs. unless someone starts showing more intrest in wb elims again, javs will soon dominate the arena and nothing will have changed.
That being said, the old elim bot HAD to be fixed or replaced. It would make it infinitely times harder for me to debug if I had to deal with two separate arenas. The decision to combine the elim arenas has yet to be made. How can you say I'm taking anything away from anybody? (and don't bother saying 'choice' that horse won't be winning any races [I didn't feel like explaining myself, afk])

dear wingzero,
fuck all the haters.
if the game of subspace teaches you anything, it's that people will act like whiny, spoiled little shits when covered with the cloak of anonymity the internet affords them.
you are absolutely doing the right thing, and the "right thing" is that you are using your specific skill set (coding) for the betterment of this zone. we, as a community, couldn't possibly ask for any more than that.

Im just saying that rejecting our objection to combining javs and wbs is that we should learn the other ship is ridiculous. I dont like to play wbs most of the time, for instance, I will not suddenly disliking it (im -ok- at it).
What will happen is the following, i play a belim, people vote for elim, i spec, go do something else and miss new belims a few times till i log out.
Which is why I think its a bad idea, at least, for me personally. This doesnt mean I dont appreciate the incredible effort of Wingzero. Using that argument is also flawed, I can appreciate somebody's effort without liking the idea. Am i forced to like the idea?

went to elimbeta today and noticed alot of complaining from wbs who were constantly getting out voted1:Rasaq> i scrub really hard with toilet paper so little pieces of it get stuck to my anus hair and then later on when im watching tv i like to pull them out slowly because it feels pretty good
1:Mutalisk> heard that n1111ga okyo got some DSLs
Paradise> No names but there's actually a black man in the arena right now.
Jones> MAAAAN1111GA UCHIHA
Paradise> NO NAMES. NOT A SINGLE NAME.....but 3/6 of the players on Force are of a certain descent. I will not go any further.

so add prac areas within the map for both javs and birds and then people can play the ship they want until they're able to muster enough votes for the actual elim round.
problem solved.
all you gotta do from a dev standpoint is set warp points for specific freq numbers and setship and setfreq based on a command sent to the bot, ez pz lemon squeezy. i'm sure our current bot core can monitor coords of a certain freq to account for players trying to warp out of the prac areas of the map.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

my opinion counts for nothing, but when i see a game of elim starting, i like to go.
getting there and seeing javs only is a bummer x 10.
no way to have both at the same time?
maybe separate that shit.

edit: yes, wbduel is fun, but that's team based. duel is fun but that's 1vs1. stop with this jim crow bullshit and have separate arenas.
wow turbo contradiction, but this shit ain't equal. leave me alone.

based on current zone population, merging does more good than harm. higher overall arena population draws more people in. it's human nature to flock to an already established crowd.
i suppose having simultaneous games might not hurt the bottom line effect of the bigger arena population.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

@Jason: Wingzero already shot down that idea, and I pretty much agree with him. No extra (prac) arena's cause part of the joy of (b)elim is that the losers have to sit and watch the winners play untill the next round starts. Its part of the joy.
And yes I get it that we have a small population, but im afraid this will just scare them off quicker. (well, me anyway, lol)(Children)>hunted for life

Let me provide you with logic. Previous post:
Originally posted by Ruby View PostThe old way of playing elim was the best personally in my opinion. The reason two seperate arenas does not work is when you're looking for an elim and have nothing else to do, the choices you have are presented with are elim and baseelim. Most make their judgement call based upon which one has more activity. So making one un-populated is easy to do because now TW isn't as active as it was in years past, and sheer numbers takes over which arena you choose. The old system would make the most sense. The idea of grouping community together in one elim is a better idea than to force wb's to play javs simply because elim is a barren wasteland now. It also makes for good showcasing for up and coming talent with more focus on a community type atmosphere.
If it were 6-7 years ago, this problem wouldn't be happening in the first place. So going with the old way of doing it is a safe bet.
It will also simplify the the arenas for players new to the zone: making it easier for them to wander into elim, and practice to make them better at TW.
The best way to look at what works is by looking in the past.
And that is coming from a guy who actually enjoys playing javs more.I fucking own you in the warbird, shut the fuck up.

Oh ya, and thank you WingZero, coming from a veteran, it is very nice to see the old robo ref and his banner back in the mix of elims.
P.S. Jason's idea of having a sudden death option is killer.I fucking own you in the warbird, shut the fuck up.
