But that's just ?go base disease, because, if you would spec any good spider, you could notice changes in it's playing style: camp, push, line, drop back, stay behind, protect terr, 2-3 bullets sprays, 8 bullets cover...and for that, you require movement...weather it's for killing terr or just chasing it away, it's worth it.
Lines do not work for you, because you don't know how to set it up properly. I'm not going into details, but lining means that focus is not on spiders...if you know what I mean...
And cram is valid strat too, easy to set up, easy to withold with laggy ppl, but it's not that hard to bring it down either...

Many terriers cannot keep up with a line (probably me included) and when I'm trying to practise it in ?go base, those stupid spiders still cram on their own, it's so hopeless6:megaman89> im 3 league veteran back off

Didnt read evrything but:
Lining can be just as effective as cramming, as long as you know how to line. One strategy we used when I was in mambo was, 3 spider at one side, sharks on the other, repping and forcing the enm when they enter to go the side with all the spider, lining is effective if you can, so is cramming, but the best way is to find a combination of these 2.Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

you guys say that lining is just as effective, and that the reason our lines were broken was because we dont know how to do it right. We easily broke the whiterabbits spider line. And in past expiriences we brake spiderlines pretty easily most of the time.
I know for a fact that whiterabbits probably have one of the best spiderlines, yet it is so easy to break.
You have one shark and a couple spiders that know how to get in there and the line is done.

Machine of God, I'm no-one in disguise, and don't even know who Annux is. I have no intention to be a staffer. But one day I would like to make my own custom maps and implement a few ideas I want to make the game more enjoyable for myself and others. I have no intention of being a staffer and not some old member posing as a newbert.
I have only played this game for close to 3 months, and I like it. So please don't be suspicious of me, cause I'm not here to screw things up, but just wana have fun and meet new people.
*Ok, we have chatted about defensive strategies, but what about Offensive strategies?
Often, in the pubs, I'm on a freq who practically chose all fighter ships and when the other team crams, all we can do is suicide assault (WW1 style..heh..). I wonder what the ultimate assault force is in regards to ship choices?
hmmm...
1 or 2 LTs
atleast 3 Javs... 1 on roof and 2 in lower base
2 sharks (mine lower base entrance and other mining flag room entrance or repelling their mines)
2 terriers (1 in lower base or the other LT)
2 spiders in lower base (protect javs in lower base)
2 lancasters in lower base or entrance or combined with terrier
and the rest warbirds (either in lower base protecting javs or in open space harassing enemy at entrance and eating lots of greens)
oops forgot about weasels... they are good for taking in flag room levys and creating havoc in flagroom...
Often this is hardly ever happens, most people chose Warbirds...I admit I do that a lot, but that is the only ship I'm ok with. Soon, I must try and get good at other ships.....like jav and spider.

wisecherub, no offense but you're misinterpreting a lot of this. real cramming almost never occurs in a pub. Lining will occur, cause the sharks mine high and people dont want to be around the mines, but the pub line is never as intense. all anyone talks about here is what goes on in actual matches with only 16 players trying hardcore to take the flag. This can be found almost 24-7 in ?go base. pub is nothing, the only offensive or defensive strategy that ever occurs there has to do with how many people you're gonna need to take the flagroom, cause honestly its just about the easiest thing in the world. i wish it wasnt like that but right now its the way things are going due to a number of factors including 1. levis and LT's 2. ?go base 3. people who dont choose to base when they pub (not saying this is a truely bad thing.)Last edited by za gophar; 06-13-2003, 10:56 PM.Ripper>cant pee with a hard on

I always found the pub version to be more pure. I don't necessarily mean that to say it's "better", but more along the lines of raw (not quite as base as to be called "unrefined" either) Sure one may find it easy to take the flag, but when someone on the other freq does too, then it gets interesting.
In pub basing, offence comes down to one simple matter. Just get your butts in, then start firing. Actually, that applies to more than just pub, but like I said, in pub it's raw.
