Just providing some constructional feedback on the whole idea of random picks in ?go base, gerbz. I couldn't bear to imagine a team with randomly chosen sharks or javs or terr for that matter, as that could very well destroy the outcome of the game. However, as a majority (yes i'm generalizing) of players are capable of doing SOME damage in the spider and not team killing, it would removing less from the game, as the other team would have to follow suit.

If you ask me I agree with what bloodzombie said , u gotta know how to fly ur ship before u jump in , for someone that is new to basing like me , everytime I get picked I know that I have to put on a show or get mvp in order for me to get recognized and get picked again its as simple as that.

which to me is a problem... but hey maybe im not experienced enough to see the problems with randomizing the odd game.

I only dinked around in shark a few times in pub until i joined floydians and they forced me to shark. I screwed up a few times and mined on attack the first few runs, but i caught on pretty quickly, and im pretty sure im not that bad at it.. although some people will dissagree.

well i agree that spider is the easiest ship to learn, especially when you have a few other good spiders to take some of the pressure off and let you experiment. but not even the best pair of sharks in the world or a godly terr can win you a game unless you have a competent supporting cast of spiders to do the grunt work for you.

People that use their brains or have talent make it into peoples picklist. The best thing is to suck up to someone that gets to cap alot, this will give you some playtime to show people you can fly a certain ship.
Then when resources are low they will pick you above people they don't know.
Eventually you will get known. Either everyone knows you suck and you will never be picked, or you get picked all the time.

Everyone started somewhere, it it wasn't with random basing. The new players should just wait it out-patience is a virtue.

I don't like the idea really. When I started playing in priv base, I left a few times because my team was not winning and that is what new players do now if you pick them. I stopped when The Crimson King flamed me :P.

I try to help anyone who ask for help in go base but still most don't care about the whole game or want to stick around for 15 mins per game. An alt arena might be good for this idea but still if theres no push for it from the tw population then its not going to fly.

Shark is the ship that I'm best at.. I've tried to teach countless people how to shark, because there's always a shortage of good people who actually want to shark, but nobody's interested in learning, every asshole that just started yesterday already thinks he's the best.

this is the right idea. those of us who play regularly in ?go base had to work ourselves up to that level on our own (either by skill, reputation, or just personality in some cases). there was no get-in-quick scheme. the new guys will have to do the same thing, and the best way to get noticed is to: 1) play tw often, 2) practice until you know what you're doing, 3) be interesting, 4) and most importantly, be nice/respectful/etc. no one likes to pick an asshole for their team. they want someone they can have fun with.

Didn't work before and I see no reason why it would now. And besides, I enjoy 8 on 8 basing more than a 20 javs tk-feast.

Perhaps instead of having one shagged up match out of 5, make it mandatory to pick one newer guy for every match. Saying that, theres no way of enforcing it
