Just because there has been so many threads about this subject: DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! It proves that people are unhappy. Too bad people who could support me don't do it. Thanks.

You're beginning to look like fools. Stop neglecting this subject. Stop saying people have to deal with it and "stfu". Just get off your sorry little arses and staff: DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Wadi, I will not stop talking about this, at least not within a month. I'm not threatening staff, I'm just saying they should do something about it, instead of telling people to deal with it. It's no fun, spoils the game. It's a flaw, a bug. Fix it. You deal with THAT.
In every professional game there would have been done something about it. In no other game you get spawned. Only rushed or camped. Not spawned. Spawning is not even lame. You have no other choice. If you don't spawn-kill, you get shot in the back by the player who just spawned back to life. It's not lame, it's a bug. Rushing, camping, now that is lame. Spawnkilling isn't. It is a need, because you have no other choice.
You know, if Trench Wars would have been under the supervision of Virgin Interactive Entertainment, this shit wouldn't occure. GG Priitk.
Ah well, on the other hand, TW wouldn't excist if VIE would still own the game. I dunno. Whatever.
Just do something about it.

Well, I think they should just do that invincible thing. Although, making a bot that didn't count spawnkills would be quite a bit easier. It would also have to not count kills of the people who spawned, as well as the people who just shot the people who spawned, though.Last edited by Lucon; 01-16-2004, 04:09 PM.The pleasure's all mine.

Thanks for your input, all ideas are helpful on how to prevent spawnkilling.

I have thoguht about doing some sort of anti spawn stuff using bots. I have come up with a couple options:
1) Negative prize guns and prize shields then shipreset after a certain time.
2) Figure out where the badguys are and spawn in a relatively safe location.
3) use the nc feature like in ?go duel
i think there was another one but i forget what it was...
anyways... i dont think it would be terribly hard to code, but it might take a bit of time to perfect... right now it is not close to the top of my list so dont expect anything addressing this anytime soon (at least not from me).
Only thing is that i always thought spawning was just a part of dueling so i dont really see why it needs to be "fixed"
you guys should keep discussing this though... ill keep reading this and gathering ideas

Of those 3, Guano, I think the NC feature as in ?go duel is the best.
When you spawn back to life, yes, just like attaching or warping, energy should be empty. That's the best what I've come up with so far.
This way, you won't get spawnkilled neither way: when you come back to life or if you fly by someone who spawns back to life.
Let's get this straight: there are 2 ways of spawnkilling:
1) You get killed when you spawn back to life --> my solution: NC feature.
2) You get killed by someone who happens to spawn back to life right in front of you --> my solution: empty energy bars when spawned back to life.

Duels will be more equal if you can't be spawn-killed. Fair chances. This makes the game more challenging and fun.
As of my opinion: it's a flaw which has been negleting too long now . That's why people say it's "part of the game". If you stop neglecting it, you will notice it's nothing more but a flaw, a bug.
How to do this?
Calculate the time a WB (for Elim, TWDD or TWLD) needs to gain energy from 0 all the way back to 1350 (because he will be able to shoot at that energy rate). I used my stopwatch. If I'm right, it should be something around 3:2 seconds.
Now add 0:5 seconds for "camping" time (if you think you shouldn't add time tell me). That makes 3:7 seconds. Whenever a player gets killed in a time fragment of 3:7 seconds after spawning back to life, kill is considered as a No Count.
For a Jav (for BaseElim, TWJD or TWLJ), again, calculate the time a Jav needs to gain energy from 0 - 1100 (player will be able to shoot bomb at 1100). If I'm right, it should be something around 7:4 seconds. Again, add a time buffer of 0:5 seconds. This makes it a total of 7:9 seconds. So, if a player gets killed in a time frame of 7:9 seconds, kill is considered as a No Count.
(By the way, maybe you think it shouldn't be bombs but bullets for Javs, use energy from 0 - 300 --> 1:9. 1:9 + 0:5 makes 2:4, so a time frame of 2:4 should be used).
Now I could be wrong with my stopwatch or with all the energy things, but this is how it could be done.

Spawning in DD has become more like a talent to see who can spawn the best. Spawning in elims is bad enough but for sure, in leagues it should not be about who can spawn the best. Cpt said he'd work on it when he gets some of the other more important things done.
2) Figure out where the badguys are and spawn in a relatively safe location.
Seems like a good idea to me.

Spawning just adds another small element of luck to the game. Note the phrase "adds another", as opposed to "creates a". There is already an abundance of luck present in the game. When you hit someone, there is a chance it will be a lag eat (likewise, when you narrowly miss someone, there is a chance it will be a lag kill) . When you shoot and miss someone, there is a chance to hit someone else behind him (or vice versa, a chance you will be hit by a stray). When you're chasing or running from someone, there is a chance someone flying by, previously off your radar, will be in position to pick you off (and vice versa, you could be the one in position). And on and on. And like all luck elements, they tend to simply even out. So contrary to what you believe, "eliminating" spawn killing will not make things more fair, as it should even out, overall. If it doesn't, then you suck, and that's your own problem.
The point is, there will be whining either way. And what of teaming? Vulching? Lagging / eating? Strays? Hiders? Tk's? People will continue to whine. What will you do about it? Where does it stop? Spawning is not any more or less of a need than vulching or rushing. No one has to rush, no one has to vulch, no one has to spawn, etc etc etc, but if you don't, then someone will do it to you, so you do, and people will whine about it. Pity.

My idea
While we are on the subject of fixing/updating continuum, I think that they should have something where if you tick a persons name and hit Del, they will vanish and never return. It would be great for reducing smacktards. Just and idea.
