So, for me, the ‘big picture’ is not about the well-known and worn out spawning issue, but rather the fact that it now appears that if someone comes on these boards, is belligerent and begins issuing threats, that this approach works.

That's an opinion, correct. The fact remains that the topic starter wanted to contribute something to improve the gameplay. He didn't had bad intentions. It seems like the threats 'read this log' or 'if you'd be a fruit, wich one would you be' are more appreciated.

And on my example thing: yes it was a bad one. A really bad one.

And for your car thief story: Oh my god! do you got more stories like that? its hilarious! (or a website or so??) that car thief wouldn't be longer in a court than 30 seconds over here. Next thing you tell me is that you got warning labels on coffee mugs telling the coffee is hot (well duhhh) so they wont get sue'd. Or a warning that you shouldnt put wet animals in a microwaver.

So because I point out that your wrong, you feel the need to take it to the personal level?

Yes, I am careful to word my posts with terms like, "my opinion" so that folks understand it is just that, not facts. I feel this is better than coming across like a flaming asshole by wording it like it is 'the truth' or 'reality'. It is 'my reality' only, take it for what it is being offered as, nothing more. If people want to listen to those who post's are worded like they are 'all-knowing' or have an exclusive on the 'truth', so be it. Sorry that you feel the need to be critical of this approach.

I offered no opinion regarding the value of US laws, I simply am stating the way things are now and how this made your argument inane and meaningless to those here in the US.

(since that example was clearly a stupid one). No need to go deeper into this since it is NOT what the subject is about. the subject is that spawning shouldn't be posible. whats your opinion on that?

I saw value in Chewy starting this post even though it is a topic that has been covered many times before. I felt it was fine that he continued to pursue it as folks responded, even when some of those responding were being fools.
But I felt that when Chewy got to the point of saying...

“Now stop complaining that I tell you to do something about it... just GO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Because I definately won't be the last who complains about it.
I will not stop complaining and bitching about it untill staff does something about it. Period. This won't be my last message.”

...it was way out of line. I took this comment to be very demanding for a free game run by volunteers. I also felt that threatening to continue to bitch about this over-discussed issue until something was done was way out of line.
Even through all of this, I posted nothing. I simply waited a few days to raise the point that, over the long-term, this might not be a behavior that should be rewarded.

I honestly did not know you started that topic. In fact, as you can see, i did edit that text 3 mins later in more commen topics. You beat me to it again. My point is in this case that i compared a subspace related topic to an non subspace related topic. That's what i was trying to say with that. Again, im not taking it on a personal level, nor am i trying to insult you.

What is interesting tho is that you feel offended that i find (thats an opinion yes) a topic named 'whats your fav colour' (or whatever) bullshit. But you don't see that im also laughing with you about that funny story of the car thief.

Plus i dont care if chewy was going out of line. You nor me replied on those flames so lets keep it that way and leave the insulting to other people.

I only felt offended because I thought you had used that example specifically since I had started that topic. If you had simply said some 'favorite color' or something I wouldn't have taken any offense. Sorry that it happened to be coincidence, since you state that you didn’t use that knowing it was a topic I started, we will mark it up to as a merry mix up.

You point about Chewy’s post being productivity compared to other posts was well taken and relevant. It was for the same reason and context that I wanted to point out what I feel wasn’t the best approach after his original post deteriorated into a style that, at least for me, caused him to lose momentum and creditability.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've been spawned in elim where I had zero chance to either get away, or kill the spawner also. It just doesn't happen often enough to warrant a change. The fact is, that 90% of the time (arbitrary statistic) the people complaining about spawns hang out in spawn areas, and don't do everything they can to avoid it.

The spawning system is perfect as is.

I used to hate spawning more then anything in tw. but now all i complain about is laggers, and only lag.

First of all. the chances of getting hit by a stray at the exact time you spawn is rare, maybe once in a few games in elim. And second, the rest of the time you usely get a good chance to get out of harms way before getting spawned at least 90% of the time. even with 40 players playing.

I think the people who have the major problems with spawning are ethier those who are frantic and go shooting at someone near them the second they spawn putting them in a sure death situation, or those who don't do anything at all when they coulda killed the guy who was turning around to fire at you where you spawned.

I used to get so pissed, i can see them changing something to lower the prevention of spawns but i don't care what anybody says it won't prevent it a hole lot for the amount of time and effort needed to invent and implement it.

Just try dealing with it and even using it to your advantage, everytime you die from a spawn think of how you coulda prevented it. yes you still die maybe 2 times at the max from stray spawns but the thing is. It's nothing compared to dieing from spikes or getting speced cuase routers flap up and down!

think about it. lag is way worse the spawning in terms of dieing, but who can fix it?

My Idea:

Put a few safety tiles around the map, when you die the bot randomly picks a spawn tile coord, places you there. Then you'll spawn on a safety tile. Now you're probly saying "oh but they will just use those so they don't die". Put the safety timer at 1-2 seconds. I'm sure those losers won't be staying there very long.

It may not be the best idea, but it's something.

... spawn them back, press warp (no anti, generally in pubs).

solution to lag...
... you shoot them once and they don't die, you shoot them again. don't type that you hit them, or you'll just get shot. play through it and bitch about it later.
