Another reason is that since both i.d. and myself are on Spastic, it would probably be better if we were around to set the first games up and watch them rather than be occupied with actually playing too.

I also had the 3/4 PM games switched, but it was suggested to me that the squads wouldn't want to play a game and then have to wait 1 1/2 hours to play the next one, especially on a Sunday. If the squads in question REALLY object this, we can change it, but we would rather keep this schedule the way it is.

I'm not even saying Sk8 should get a bye, I just think Pandora along with Dice is the squad who has been doing the best in TWBD lately. With that, I think they should get that bye. But whatever, good luck everyone.

Honestly from what I've seen these past months I think Sk8 is a more of a challenge than Spastic.

yeah i realize that, but the key words in my previous post were first and round. every squad having to get a win out of the gate to stay in it is at least a bit more fair and competitive overall.

it's just a tourny for some fun though, so kudos for getting as many teams as you have.

And NO Spas and Dice being top contenders isn't obvious to everyone. So if you had to be elitist and ignore some basing squads you could atleast have been democratic and made that contender poll.

Yes, but from what I see sk8 and pandora are both capable of beating spastic, and thus it's very lame that only one of them will make it to the second round.

when i was making the schedule, i was looking at roster mostly. When i was looking at pandora's roster, i see no solid solid terr, 1 solid shark.. and about bunch of aliasers who i have no idea who the fuck they are. How am i suppose to give a squad a bye when i dont even know them? alone with that crappy/unknown roster. And please, dont give me the crap about "well, they are all aliased and they are good basers".. i dont care. if you want to be aliased and be mysterious, then be unknown to others and start off fresh.

First of all, this is not a flame. If I were still on Hillpeace I would still be just as interested in your explanation. I'm truly concerned about your setting up of the tounrament. I've read over the argument for Spastic getting an automatic first round "win", and I am as yet unsatisfied. After asking I.D., I have been told that although the tourny is run by Stab and I.D., that Nethila set up the original brackets, so I guess this question goes out to him. Why give Spastic a first round bye?

So you had 4 people, with 2 from Spastic, and you listed the top 3 squads as Spastic, Dice, and your squad Anti-Scrub. Unfortunately, I look at the TWD ladder and don't see #1, 2, and 3 reflecting these choices. How did you decide that although Pandora is ranked first, and went 2-0 vs. Spastic in December, that Spastic is still top 3?

I guess you made a partial-answer in your next defensive response:

This leaves me wondering, why doesn't the TWD ladder count? Doesn't it reflect who has been able to play well with the players they have? Do we want future tournaments to be set up by polls imagined by "honest" veteran players? Woudln't these veterans, after watching Spastic play well for years have prejudices against first-year squads? I think that a dicussion is at least warrented, and that you should at least allow an argument as to the fact that a 5th ranked team is obviously better than your #3 squad A-S and others which have been higher ranked throughout this year's TWD season. I sincerly hope you did not base your decision upon a supposed top line that Spastic has as being far superior, TWD and TWL has never been about top line's, it is about who is on and can play at the moment.

Someone asked: "Maybe consider letting people not in a participating squad make the schedule?" Stabwound correctly responded that "any player that is not participating is likely to not even know or care enough about TWBD to make a fair schedule." But why only pick people from 2 of the squads, in this case Spastic and A-S. I don't suggest forming a commitee, but perhaps input from the top 2 ranked squads would help resolve this perceived bias in the future. I say that the bias is perceived, it may not be true. But when Stabwound ends his sensible post with "Finally, if you don't like it, you don't have to play" I just get a bad taste of elitest bullshit in my mouth.

Well hopefully Gen, after reading this and other posts, you'll see there is some disagreement as to who will win, I guess that's why we have tournaments in the first place. Otherwise, why not just have 3 teams enter? I'm sorry, but don't you think that Pandora, after being ranked first place for some time will at least have a CHANCE?

It's just a tourny, and I think its great of Stabwound, I.D. and Nethila to spend their free time working so we can spend it playing. And I hope that by disagreeing with them that I don't hurt our friendship. I'm just trying to make sure that if there are any problems with this tournament's setup that they can be resolved or at least discussed by our next one! Aren't we allowed to see something we disagree with and make an argument against it? Isn't that a part of life? Or would you have us all go to Iraq like sheep! So I say this Nethila...withdraw our troops! Peace in the Middle East!
