Rofl dude are you serious? You are on epidemic right now that has 45 players on their roster.

Also again, why the fuck do you think the squads with 40+ players will remove those who aren't active? The squads will remove the least active people, and those people will continue to be inactive. If a squad would be formed from the cutoffs of the major squads you'd have a squad with no activity at all.

First off, if you are going to argue for this cap you better get your facts straight. The TW population took a huge plummet right around the time World of Warcraft came out (2005 I think) and it continued to decline for a relatively short period. After that the population stabilized and has been roughly the same for quite a few years now. Someone on this forum had a graph for this but I couldn't find it. Instead I'll link you to another thread as proof: Thread from 2007. The numbers posted in that thread is slightly higher than what we got now, which indicates that we've had a slight loss of playerbase since then. Keyword is slight.



This is another point where you are completely missing the point. We aren't talking about casual pubbers or casual people not playing TWD. There are alot of players in EVERY semi-old squad which is only logging on a few times per month to play some TWD and chat with their squadmates. These guys really don't care about anything else going on in the zone or participating in TWL. Forcing their squads to axe them for NO REASON will encourage them to play less as opposed to encouraging them to get more active again. If we are going to have strict TWD limits on how many we can have on rosters its these guys that are going to get booted off their squads and at that point we're more likely to lose even more of our population. Some of these semi-retired players is good friends of mine and it would certainly be less fun in TW if these guys didn't log on anymore since we had to axe them. This can lead to more inactivity in other less inactive players and will continue to roll this zone downwards a hill.

The worst thing that can happen is that stupid shit like this will make people lose faith in the zone, and they will see changes like this as desperate and stupid attempts to save the zone, and they are likely going to think that this is going to fail and the zone will be flatlining shortly. The only way I would consider the poll results viable was if it was a poll for TWL squad captains only. Atleast these guys knows enough about how the zone works to make somewhat of an informed decision.

We can probably toss opinions back and fourth for quite some time. There is always opposition to any kind of change and you have some fairly valid opinions / concerns. However, we can sit here all day long and assume that one thing will happen over another. We wont really know the reality of the consequences, good or bad, until someone takes a risk to try it. Taking this risk could just as likely go in a positive direction as it could a negative. There will always be pros and cons to any decision, but no one here can say that they have the experience to know what scenario would outweigh the other. Holding on to old traditions and methods just so that a group of semi-active vets can play a few TWD games a month is hardly a reason worth not trying this out for a limited time. Not to mention that most the vets that fall under this category, that I have interacted with, don't even log into TW to play the game, let alone TWD. They log in to chat and visit with old friends. I don't think that your opinion on this matter is a very reasonable opinion at all. Of course it is possible that some vets may stop playing, but I don't see that being as huge of a negative impact as you suggest. I think that squads having to play the same 3 squads 8+ times a day, day in and day out, will cause a much more decrease of interest than that of a few inactive vets quitting the game, assuming that would even happen. The population's decline, however "Slight" it may currently be, will continue to decrease, as it has for some time, if something is not done to make the zone more competitive and create more interest. Maybe a slight decline is not a big deal to you, but a slight decline over a long period of time will have a more than slight impact.

PS: I think that a more interesting and useful piece of information would be the dynamics of squad activity over the past couple of years.

How about plan B: Seperate the divisions. Then players can join a DD squad and a BD squad or JD or whatever. This will help all 3 ladders (yes I know there is 4 but nobody plays SD ).

P.S. - Fix those god-forsaken bots! Every day bots crash mid-game.

Thought of that, Alot of programing envolved, and with the bot connection problems at moment would rather have them fixed first. plus there becomes alot of confusion with chats , can you dd? / jd? /bd? and what happens if your on a dif squad and two/three games get accepted at once. =/

Limiting choices that players have is stupid. Offer incentives to squads that have 30 or below TWD members. Special twdd, twjd, twbd arenas that only squads with less than 30 twd members or below can challenge from, priority in choosing scheduled times in twl, you could even make it such that squads with 30 twd members and less get a "squad vs world" deathmatch game once every few weeks or are able to request hosted events or .?go base more frequently. If players/captains still want a large roster even after all of this then that's their decision.

Therefore it should be safe to say that they will not stop playing TW just because they are dropped from the TWD roster of the squad that they barely play TWD for.

Doc Flabby is 100% right. I can't believe how some of you can argue that it will help the zone by shutting out those who wants to play this game casually.

Lets install a filter to the server when we are at it, if you don't play more than 1 hour per week you'll be considered too inactive to be worth something and then banned. Finally we can get rid of all these people that has been pillars of support for both the zone and their squads for several years. Actually its the people who log on "once a week" who keep this game going. In order to sustain the current population of subspace, its been estimated around 20,000 people play at least once a week. To keep a constant population requires alot of casual players in a game like this, the hardcore who logon for hours on end are a minority.

The one thing we don't want to do is discourage "causal play" of this game. Anything that does this will damage our population.

The big strength of Continuum is you can logon for 30mins a week and enjoy the game. Unlike crappy games like WoW which are massive time sinks.
