CRT people should stop complaining because 1600x1200 is all you need to be able to play as well as a 1920x1200 player; beyond 1280x1024 the reaction time etc is insignificant for dodging radar bullets, and almost every monitor should support 1600x1200. oh i have nothing against raising the cap myself. i like playing on 1680, the game was enjoyable. my biggest concern is finding enough players who can dish out atleast 1600 in a game that matters. and if twl does not raise the cap, it would be foolish to play on bigger res if you actually wanted to prac.

Alright, I know some people are going to hate this, but TWDD and TWJD are now 1920x1440. I don't think anyone even uses 1920x1440 but Witness insisted on that, so whatever.

If it sucks, it'll be changed back. This is really just to see what it's like, how many people actually use higher res, etc.

If you were going to be a dictator about increasing the rescap, why did you even bother doing a poll about it, since the results are in favour of no (49 to 45 votes)? You just successfully wasted everyone's time on trying to voice their for and against opinions, if you just selfishly made a decision not based on the most objective solution here known as the poll (even though this sirius used his 3 nicks to vote on yes and hence gain 3 votes). It just shows that you're yet another terrible, corrupted staffer that is completely deaf. Good job, now i can stop caring about this dead game while you guys have fun laming on players that can't afford 1920 resolution /which is a majority/, because i am not joining the cause.

Anyhow i feel like this about the new reso since i play on a laptop that only can run up to 1280x768x16 and that now it will be an unfair fight 90% of the time in twdd. Even with the change most of my players will not be changeing reso's we will just continue to rush u snipeing fucks which has been working for us. And close range when your ship is tiny suxs so gl running from us. Anyway i think the change is a bad idea -oldE

Look, if it turns out that it sucks, or barely anyone uses a higher res, it'll be changed back. There is finally framework in place to get hard stats on what resolutions players use in TWD. Looking at pub stats, website stats or anything like that doesn't tell you anything. Also, this isn't in TWL (yet). TWD is a place to test things out. Yes, this was also supposed to be tested in TWDT, but for whatever reason those bots don't log player resolution so it's useless. Besides, this, realistically, isn't going to affect TWL qualifications at all, nor would any other change.

After talking about this with other staff, it finally dawned on me that if you poll players on possible changes nothing will ever happen. There's always a lot talked about but no one ever does it. It's much more effective to make actual changes to test, and then watch the results and reaction. I have 2 good examples. A few years ago MirroriM allowed having 2 terriers in base/bd. It was pretty obviously a universally hated change, and it was reversed. Someone else removed the 2 cram blocks on either side of the flagroom entrance to hinder cramming. People didn't like it at first, but now no one says anything and I'll be most actually prefer it now.

Every single staff member I talked to wanted to and agreed to raise the limits here. I was even on the fence until a few convinced me to just try it.

IF IT SUCKS IT'LL BE CHANGED BACK. If there is like 5% of people using a higher res, then whatever, I'll admit it was a fuckup and we'll put it back. Please drop the dramatic shit, cause this clearly isn't going to kill the game.
