  • and i forgot 2 reply to saetep's post which is worth discussing.

    ok ok

so even before last TWL ended PH took the res cap off of TWDD arenas (i think it was all TWDD arenas, dont remember tho). this was announced, by me on the forum sif nobody else. res cap was taken off of almost all arenas unless im mistaken, including elim and wbduel. its been about a year since this happened. i havent been around for almost a year so i dont know if res cap was put back in place, but there was definitely a good period of time for testing. and lets be fukin honest, it doesnt take that dam long to test. its either beneificial or its not. yr either gonna switch yr res or yr not. takes a few games to figure out.

im gonna play Sesson15 or whaevr we're on im gonna take some ass be rdy with yr asss. i wont quit b4 playoffs this tyme swear. miss u saetep, luv.

    • and burnt u use lots of sketchy statisitcs in yr writings. im sure there are lots of ppl playing twdd that are using 1280 even if they are able to use greater because they expect TWL to be capped at 1280 and dont wanta to throw themselves off by practicing on a diff res. just like ppl on steam not using high res's cuz it makes framerate lower without increasing visibility, u still used that stat. hot dam BURNT!

also also all 3 of these ppl as well as myself will support no res cap, guarantee. ASK THEM WHY

              • By the way the poll still overwhelmingly votes against this change after what.. three weeks? I think the little test run you had is finished and people have still overwhelmingly voted down this retarded change to the zone.

i dunno if you are agreeing with me here... but i threw those names out so they can come here and tell you bigger resolution = bigger advantage, which certain players did not believe

                  • i meant muddy clutches.

ill try to make more sense this time, wish me luck:

                    deatud! felio
                    woops bad start

                    alrite.

the major advantage of a higher resolution lies in the greater visibility of teammates and strays. beyond that, any benefits of a higher res struggle for significance.

the avail in being able to see strays from further away is an obvious one. you have a couple of tenths of a second longer to react to the stray. it isnt a huge difference, but it matters.

less apparent is the way higher res affects one's ability to react and communicate with teammates. when you can see yr teammates from further away you can team better, simplz. when ppl can team better the match becomes more team oriented, chomp chomp. ok im getting bored and sense is starting 2 get lost.

                    let me switch gears

ppl are not at much disadvantage on an individual level when they have 1280 res and the opponent has 1920. the advantage has more to do with the potential to work together as a team. this orients 5v5 WB more in the direction of team play instead of it feeling like 5v5 elim, and this is a good thing. teams can move more cohesively as a unit. teams can both rush and isolate stragglers better as you can further see not only the enemy but also yr teammates and where they are moving relative to everybody else. same with defending teammates from rushes or becoming isolated. i dont want to overexaggerate the advantage though. its significant, but not huge. the more skilled team is likely gonna win either way, big res or small res, but when more people are on a larger res the dynamics of 5v5 wbs will shift a little in the direction of team work as opposed to individual play.

i noticed TWD now has a nifty range-o-meter. its pretty sweet. ima go on and utilize it to the advantage of my argument. ah-hem: while looking through the Match Reports on twd.org, one will notice that the large majority of kills come from R1 and R2, Short Range and Normal Range, respectively. From the illustration at the bottom of the match page, Normal Range seems to extend to an apex of about 700 pixels. most kills, i'd estimate about 80%, are coming from within 700 pixels of range. These dynamics remain the same even when taking into account the resolution a person is using; people who are using 1600 or 1920 are still getting the majority of their kills from within 700 pixels. this means that most kills happen in such a close range that the people with 1280 res are actually at an advantage - they can see the action better. the point is a higher resolution is way more relevant to an increase in teamwork than an individual's ability to get more kills.

you have to take into account that people pressing boost and bullets travel at a slower pace the bigger your resolution is, you can with bigger resolution stay on a "more safe ground" like this even if the kills are counted as R2's...

in TWL though, the majority of kills come from teaming and radarbattles, good teams swarm the guy who is rushing in etc. so yeah, there is a clear advantage, you can defend yourself better, you can chase a guy better, you can survive the radarbattles better... 3-0 is better than 10-5 when it comes to good teams, and bigger reso will guarantee that

thats just relative. everything is still moving at the same numbers of pixels/second (neat measurement!)

its just that the pixels get bigger/smaller depending on res.

youre just repeating that the further away you can see the more time you have to react. regardless of res, if youre 400 pixels away from a person everything is still moving at the same speed.

yes, it is relative to the res you are using which is my point
