Shriek and New Squad Invites

Sarien, I'm just saying that those squads who have yet to face Shriek have a MUCH greater chance of scoring more on the plus side of the +/- ratings. Those +/- ratings, especially in TWLB, are very close and it's very possible for a squad that BEAT Shriek to lose out on a playoff spot simply because one of the replacement squads suck and another team beat them by more than they would have beat Shriek.

That sounded a little confusing so let me run through a basic example.

Squad A defeats Shriek in TWLB by 5 minutes, thus their +/- is 5:00 from that game. And then let's say their overall +/- is 9 minutes more than Squad B.
Squad B was scheduled to face Shriek in TWLB.
Squad B now ends up playing Defiancy and defeats them by 10 minutes. Everyone knows damn well that Squad B wouldn't have won by such a large margin had they played Shriek.
Squad A was in the last spot in their conference that would get them to the playoffs. Again, they were 9 minutes ahead of Squad B in the standings.
Squad B, with those 10 minutes they got ez pz from the replacement squad, is now 1 minute ahead of Squad A and thus, in effect, ends up stealing the playoff spot.

This isn't an unlikely scenario. And if it does happen, it really makes the league look shitty, ya know?

and even worse, there is the possibility that a squad that lost to shriek will be in competition for a playoff spot with a squad that now gets what is basically a free win against a replacement squad (no offense but the only somewhat competitive replacement squad on that list is whipe).

but what about the squads that weren't scheduled to play shriek? They wont have the benefit of a free win. Either way its unfair to someone.

you only compete for playoff spots with people in your conference, so at least the in-conference equality will be there. yes, in the other conference, 3 of the 7 squads would have a forfeit win while the others dont, but that is not significantly more unfair than having 1 or 2 of the squads play shriek (a tough game) and 1 or 2 of the squads get a free win against defiancy, with 4 of the squads playing a different (possibly tough, possibly easy) game. so it makes the in-conference playoff battle fair, and the cross-conference effect on fairness is minimal at worst.

I agree Shriek was a better contender for Defiancys next four matches, but I can't help but think we are being just a tad underestimated here. Our squad is first of all - a basing squad. We aren't some random TWDD/J squad that got lucky because we were at the top of the ladder. We know how, and are pretty good at basing.

We are also extremely active. We usually BD multipul times a day. We don't pick and choose either, if you check out record, you'll see many matches vs. twl level basing squads. Also notice the improvement almost everytime we play twl level squads.

Im not saying we're going to take all 4 and prove you all wrong cause your stupid newbies etc. Im not an idiot. I know we aren't as well off as some of the squads we will be facing. Although with our top line on, which Im sure has a good possibilty of happening. We most likely won't go 0-4, and if we do, it won't be 4 free wins.

I gotta say, I really hope you don't host our game.

Please think twice before you post Send. He was making a valid point and he made it without any newbish trashtalk. I would be more than happy to have Jason host any/all of our matches. Especially after doing so well when hosting the -F- match I think it was.

hahahahaha did merce think that he wouldn't get caught? if he was smart, he should have gone to play at a friends house or something. Some of these shriek players are complaining that they didn't know and they should still play twl. But I don't think that is fair because nobody can prove if they are telling the truth or not, they could just be lying to keep playing twl.

And I agree with escalate and Jason, it is unfair to the squads that lost to shriek especially if they are competing for a playoff spot.

replacement squads this late in the season are stupid. what should happen at this point and would be most fair, is that every team that plays shriek from now on gets a forfeit win AND every team that ever played shriek this season gets their win/loss changed to a forfeit win. just completely erase their impact on the leagues. because the 3 teams that have a loss against them are being screwed.

last season war angels took over for someone who dissolved after 7 weeks...

they were given a 0-7 record, even though they proceeded to go 2-1 in the last 3 games including beating Elusive.......

doesnt matter, the rules say an incoming replacement squad starts with 0 wins..... they have the privilege of playing in TWL thats the point

Well, we both know that War Angels was a far cry from Defiancy... at that point in time we were routinely beating TWL-level squads in TWBD games. I would really love to see them pull some upsets, but looking at their TWD history I can't really say that they are going to pull any...

I think that if Shriek didn't cheat in earlier games, then thats just the way the cookie crumbles. On the other hand, will the new LB squad get one second against us this week? Tune in to find out!

I doubt defiancy will have any problems howing 8 ppl considering they are about as active, if not more active then RB is in BD. WHich is among the top of all squads in games played. I wouldnt doubt a few squads having bad attendence tho being its 4th july.

just to clarify this issue:

tankeds last 5 bD games which goes all the way back to May, so 5 whole games in a month

4 played with 5 players
1 played with 6 players

1 vs A-S
1 vs avalonian
2 vs dragonguard


as opposed to defiancy's who have played 20 games in the last 10 days.....

now they havent beaten anyone of any skill... and hell yeah they even lost to us lowly Melee guys....

but

the bottom line is that TWL needs ACTIVE squads in that have the right attitudes to be a replacement squad, and defiancy seems to be excited about the game right now, unlike some other squads out there whining as to why they werent "granted" the spot for nothing

I totally agree but I think tanked gettting not accepted into TWLB has to be taken into account. I can totally guarantee you that if Tanked got into TWLB at this point, no matter what condition they may be in with having little to no basers they would be able to muster everything they had into being active, motivated and ready.

its tough to get 7 or 8 man TWBD's these days..... most of this season we have been trying to get them every night, and no one ever has guys online

I agree with you 100% Bosshawk. We have 8 on pretty often, but are usually forced to play something like 5s - 7s. It does suck, but we take what we can get.

It's also pretty hard to play in ?go base. Defiancy is a relativly new squad, and we don't get picked as often as others. Understandable of course. Although showing 8 people for a specific date and time with multipul days warning will be no problem whatsoever for Defiancy.
