DO WE LIKE NEW BASING SETTINGS?

I miss old settings. Sure there was more RNG but those extra facets are what makes the game even greater. A stronger terr can makeup for a weaker line by hustling for greens and spamming the fuk outta burst key in right spots. Sharks are scarier when they can sacrifice a little positioning for potential teks from shrap. If anything, indtroduce more opportunity for strats such as small weasel for crams break or w/e.

Hope you are talking to those who decided to get off the subject and make personal attacks rather than staying on point.

I have every right to talk about all ships in base as anyone else does. I play terr pretty good , probably better than 90% of basers in that ship and I play shark and spider too pretty well. Throw me on a good team and I'll contend with you both.
This ganging up harassment is BS too. I didn't even talk specifically about terr yet that somehow was a singled out as some issue involving me? Don't know where that even came from but I'll duel you guys terr vs terr any day. Happy to duel you in shark too. Spider I'm not great 1 vs 1 but would even try that. I do fine in spider in base though.

No. If the current changes don't stay, they should be reverted to the old settings and be left untouched.Originally posted by qan View PostThere was one proposal right before TWL that I think most people thought was fairly solid, involving (iirc) prizing Burst/Port after a certain number of greens collected by the team (with no shared greens for Terr). This would make pushing and more aggressive play a tactical necessity.
Might be worth looking at trying after TWL rather than simply reverting to the old settings, if there's enough interest.
edit: Jessup, I'm not here to bully you, but you have no business talking about terr.

This is a potatoOriginally posted by Jessup View PostThis is Continuum/Subspace Willby, a 100% player funded, player run and player developed game since its inception that prides itself on this fact. If you are talking about a game like WOW or LOL or w/e other commercial MMO that is one thing but to tell people here they have no rights as a player repulses me and I'd hope similarly many others would feel the same way when hearing that nonsense. Having checks and balances within the community is vital and settling for anything less is going against every principle that has made this game great from its inception.
Also, who decides who is "trusted" and what criteria would you say would allow players to find themselves in that privileged situation?

This is Jessup's brain.

Notice any similarities?

Personally, i'm pretty torn.
Some I like, some I don't. I think terriers shouldn't have timed ports. Makes them too predictable, and doesn't allow them to play for their full potential.
As for the other changes, I don't mind. Bounties are weird, but I like how spiders get rewarded for it more with the energy, helps spiders who push much better.
Kudos on trying something new though!

Hate this mentality... it's been around since 2000 and we are in 2019 now, it's time people who believe in this change with the times. If you are staff or dev you aren't helping the game if that's your approach to development.Originally posted by WillBy View Post
Look at any game within active development or receiving updates of any kind. The playerbase has very little say in what changes get made before they happen. Players can complain about it after, but the decisions are left entirely up to game directors, programmers, and a few trusted players
In other words, (and man, it has been years since I've gotten to tell people this) you have no rights as a player.
Zones are not personal clubhouses... and volunteer/dev positions are not a means to an end to get the changes in the game you would like to see. Whenever I dev anything, first thing i do is poll people and ask for their opinions. If people don't like the changes what the hell am i deving for? So i can play the zone by myself? As well i'm able to recognize that more input is better than just "my" input... getting opinions on a map i make helps in the long run to develop a more refined and better looking map than if i went at it alone. And no, that's not because I'm not an "expert" map maker. Any zone that had staff which said "it's my way or the highway" quickly died after that. EG abused settings and graphic/map changes until nobody played there anymore and they lost their core players. Ironically, the most deved zone in the game died the same time the least deved zone DSB did.
You can't make everyone happy, but you can get damn close, and can work toward some sort of compromises too.. so even the 40% who are not happy with changes end up being not happy on a scale... where 1 is ambivalent feelings about the changes, 5 is unhappy, and 10 is quitting the game.

Who needs rights when you can have a lot of luck with the ladies?!Originally posted by WillBy View Post

All people who know how to base should be included in any decision making process.

In game polls are usually best, that being said... you needed options here like:
3) No, but I like terr settings
4) No, but I liked spider settings
5) I don't like old or new settings, but I like a few things based on the new settings.
6) I liked old settings, and dislike new settings but i would keep one thing from new settings.
7) I didn't mind old or new settings.
I don't care as an option might as well be people who didn't vote? I don't see the relevance of that bracket... unless you're trying to find out how apathetic our community is? i suppose the i dont care could be a weak example of number 7) liking everything.Last edited by Falconeer; 04-16-2019, 01:36 PM.
