I agree with Escalate that those forfeits ruin the system.

And also I agree that head to head might be best to solve things, but I do also think that changing the rules just before they actually matter is quite dangerous. Then rules are set for nothing...

lets look at the flaws for the +/-

1) Rapid has same schedule as grapevine except that rapid plays SHRIEK and gv plays MAMBO
2) One squad wins a game by forfeit and wins another game where only 3 people show up while the other squad plays every game 5v5.
3) One squad plays shriek but then they dissolve and the next squad plays -=!Chinatown!=- which has taken shrieks place and wins 50-15

Now lets look at the flaws for head to head:

1) 1 game isnt enough to see who is the better team because one team didnt have ther best players.

Seems like head to head is better. In real sports it often comes down to one game and thats how it should be. +/- can completely screw over a team as it did with us. We beat gv and pirates and we had to play shriek which was a loss and gv got 2 play mambo which they won( no offense against mambo but we probably coulda won).

Ummmm, yeah, they won't change the rules that qualify people for playoffs mid season. Not gonna happen. But hopefully we can get the ball rolling to change for next season.

I agree for reasons listed above that +/- really blows, and that head to head is not perfect, but by far, a better system to use.

What do we need to do to change this for next season?

I think the squad to blame here was actually Tanked (except Jon and Phatty :up: ), because if it weren't for their activity problems, squads wouldn't have been screwed over. An active Tanked squad could have very well easily have beaten GV in javs.

I did check grapevine and rapid's schedule and they had 7 of the same opponents, 1 game vs each other and 2 cross-conference. i have to admit i see where rapid is coming from, rapid played Shriek and Ancients in cross-conference, and Grapevine played Mambo and Melee. So looks like all the rapid complaining might have actually stumbled onto something that is actually true. But it's not as if Grapevine made their own schedule, they just played the games they were dealt, same as everyone else. It's not as if they are going to be stripped of their playoff spot simply because Rapid had to face Shriek.

I do understand where you're coming from on this particular complaint, but Rapid wont make the playoffs based on these comments or any others. Good job on keeping your squad alive through the whole twl season, and good luck keeping it going until the next season, but this ones over for you guys, might as well just accept it. =/ Better luck next time.
