yeah they really did, When they lost mythril they debated if they should stay in twl or not. They dropped out because they lost a key player, and a key leader. A leader is what tells you the squad. They lost their's, and in replace it crushed their squad.

How do you know that they won't dissolve? The season didn't even start...Lols! Also everything i said made sense...and i knew that GV was going to dissolve right at the time when they lost their captain.

they lost their captain before the season started... they lasted 2 preseason weeks and another 2-4 weeks in the regular season...

and how do i know who wont dissolve? squads from previous playoffs? because it hasn't happened yet so i like my odds

wow can the losers on the squads that didnt make their "respective" league please shutup. why all this whining, the point is you didnt get enough points. go check the TWD site you got a 2 week warning that this was comming, in my opinon this was plenty of time. you missed a TWL position by 1 spot or a couple of points, good job it just shows how undedicated your players are that they cant show up on a weekend and win a few games. maybe when you got into TWL in the past season try to go better that 3-7 or so then you wont have to worry about getting in.

Metal, just want to let you know there was no intention of an arrogant tone in my message. Like I said I have no substantial complaints about the current system. I don't know why I am unable to communicate that clearly, but alas. I will simply conclude that all of my rambling has been in the spirit of: "OK we have a system that is adequate, but why stop there?" We ought to be constantly looking for ways to refine. In that line of reasoning I think this thread is a good thing, so please don't tell me I'm arrogant when I genuinely try to avoid that.

As for the current system, I agree that it is an unbiased system that is a good way to measure who should be in TWL and who should not. And now I will repeat myself once more by saying that no system is perfect and this thread should be directed more towards perfecting the good system we have in place, not bickering about whose squad made it or didn't, and certainly not retaliating by throwing insults back and forth about who sucks or doesn't. That discussion is for a different thread.

To Pascone: first of all I want to make clear if I didn't before that the least of my goals is to criticize the league, the qualification system, or anything that people volunteer their time to do in order to help this zone. I appreciate greatly the people who are part of staff and make things smooth for all of us "civilians" in the game. Hopefully you will have read above and understand that my intention is to improve the zone, not tell people they are wrong. Also I hope you will understand that I'm not against the current system, but I'm always for exercising our minds together to see if we can do better. The reasoning "we've done it this way since such-and-such a time" is okay if you are defending the fact that the system is in place, but we shouldn't let those arguments hinder us from moving forward in the search for a better system. I understand that doing that kind of thing takes more valuable time from people who already give a lot, but then again that is why threads like this are accessible to the public. I just wish everyone posting had something to contribute; on the contrary, there seem to be far too many who have nothing substantial to say.

I'd like to ask that everyone here who is about to post ask yourself two questions first:

Is what I'm about to say going to add anything to the discussion?
Is what I'm about to say meant to attack someone else?

If the answer two either of those questions is yes, I'd ask that you kindly stfu before posting. I'm tired of sifting through crap to get to the good posts.

i'm just trying to defend why things are the way they are. i probably shouldn't have quoted your (foreign) post as i was also kind of replying to other people at the same time in the post which makes things confusing. i don't really see how the system is flawed. the average opponent rating was looked at, but i don't see how a squad ranked #3 can't get invited to twl. if they were ranked like 10th at the time, then it would have had a good chance that they wouldn't have been invited. twd rating is not the only factor used, it just happened to work out this year like that. my point is for non twl tenored squads, i feel the system is the best possible system as it is extremely straightforward.

as for the qualifying squads from previous seasons, could it be different? probably. but like i said 100 times now, at the time we were reviewing the rules, the auto invite didn't really affect anything. people complain that they don't want inactive squads in twl (like perhaps -final- is considered to be, but i disagree with that notion). regardless, it was decided that 12 teams would be best because at the time there were exactly 12 actively competetive squads. also, of people i asked, the majority agreed that 12 teams would be best across the board.


i hope this clears things up, and my intentions are not to attack anyone, but rather defend the way this twl was set up and why the rules are the way they are.

Talking about how Ancients barely didn't qualify because of Penetrate passing you in points, but I'm pretty sure this wasn't decided by the points. I was told in a previous post on TWL that the teams will be chosen based on other things, since everyone is so close on the ladder. Your team was not chosen. It had little to do with the "rules", the teams were chosen by the staff based on who they think is most qualified for the best competition.

There leader is ban cuz of cheats, thats basically there squad.

Before the qualification process twl-staff decided twl would be 12 squads and qualification was done through twd(ladderwise, who had most points gets in).
How drastic, stupid and fucked up these decisions are if you look back on them, they cannot be changed, just simply because you cannot favour any squad, and every squad should be handled the same.
I think not just people on rampage and ancients dislike the fact they are not in twlb and virtuosus is. But we cannot simply change that because we didn't see that coming when those decisions were made.
The system for deciding twl-squads is flawed if you ask me... but it is way better then what it used to be in season 1-4(well, i only know how it went season 4). As flawed as the system might be, it is the same system for everyone. No one gets favoured and everyone can get in the same way.

What could be done about the flaws is change the formula or add something that takes into account the average rating of the squads you played against...

I vowed not to post in here, but I just wanted to add a simple suggestion for next TWL qualification.

TWD is good for squads that have been playing in the system for a few months because teams gradually get sorted in the appropriate spot. The weakness is when brand new teams join in say a few weeks before TWL is supposed to start. TWD has trouble sorting these new teams simply because they are brand new.

So for next season why don't you simply make an announcement 2 months before TWL saying "squads wishing to participate in the upcoming TWL must be registered and active under TWD for these 2 months all the way until the final TWL qualification date is set". Adding in a minimum of say 60 games must be played within these 2 months for you to qualify for TWL would also help.

The TWD rating system really is meant for long term use for sorting out the best teams. Making teams play for a minimum of say 2 months with a minimum of games needed to be played allows for the ranking system to work its magic.
